What's Your Political Ideology?

I'm sure there's been about a thousand threads on political ideology before I came here. But I just took a political compass and I'm curious about where the rest of NSG stands.

Going from memory:

Economic Left/Right: Mid -9s.
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: Lower -8s. (That is, more negative.)

I'm a left-anarchist with strongly left-wing views on most issues.

Edit: "Socially left" doesn't correspond with "socially authoritarian" in most people's minds; quite the opposite. Your poll is misleading.

Socially liberal, economically it's a bit more complicated but still centre left. I fit nicely into the bottom left hand corner, at any rate.

Oh, and that poll might just be a tad...off?

I had to vote "other" because I am socially moderate (centrist) and strongly economically conservative (right). I agree with Libertarians on some issues, Republicans on some issues, and Democrats on almost nothing.

I am a realist.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -0.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.79

Never had much faith in these kinds of tests.

I'm in the same boat as Dixieanna on this one -- economically conservative, socially moderate/centrist.

"Not a Yank", which seems to be "other", as far as your test goes.

I'm a socialist who doesn't really care too much about political freedom, and knows that money doesn't grow on trees.

Extreme right-wing classical liberal monarchist with strong anarcho-capitalist, aristocratic, and feudalist leanings. Pro-elitism, pro-Austrian School economics, anti-democracy, anti-egalitarianism.

I think the whole idea of classifying opinions by "ideologies" is a bad idea to begin with, since it associates way too many separate opinions on separate subjects with each other at the same time to reflect individual variation with regards to individual views on separate issues. (Let alone even make sense...)

Would I qualify as "other" in that case?

I'm a librarytarian. It goes well with being a pastafarian and a Social Demoncrat. I feel very compleat.

Judging by your name and posts, you strike me as a pragmatist who judges the issues individually based on their merits and never hesitates to call bullshit when you see it - whether its bullshit from the left, or from the right, or from the center. Then again, that's undoubtedly why you chose your name. :p

Your labels are ridiculous. For example, being socially and economically left does not make you communist. It makes you socially and economically left.

Anyways, I believe I scored a -9.13,-8.65 on the Political Compass. A bit more extreme than I would have thought, but it also seemed that the test didn't go as more in-depth as it should have. This makes me some sort of radical left-winger, with strong socialist convictions (although I like to avoid calling myself a socialist) and a dislike for totalitarian regimes. I'm not extremely libertarian, but I would like seeing people have a whole lot more rights and freedoms.

I guess I'm some kind of authoritarian primitivist (In that I believe primitivism to be an ideal state, and that authoritarian control is unfortunately probably going to be the only way for human beings to achieve it again).

Thank you, but, interestingly enough, when I chose this name I was a rabid anarcho-communist who spouted the bullshit in question.

Besides which, being a librarytarian is much more fun.

That's quite similar to mine, really; we may differ on the particulars, but overall that sounds pretty consistent with my political and personal philosophy.

Aww, I ran out of pie. :(

I'll say I'm a centralist. It looks like the best option up there, and I don't really agree with either left-wing or right-wing politics.

idiology is the arraingement of deck chairs on the titanic, as long as the well being of the natural environment continues to be negligently undermined.

no nation is free, which creates such a construct of law, that people are forced to pay each other for what nature would otherwise give them.

(and no idiology prevents any nation from doing so. this is the precident that was set by ancient rome and how it enslaved all of its citizens. the same precident being fallowed by modern nations today, 'right' and 'left' alike, reguardless of what idiology or economic theory they pay lip service to)

nor is any nation which does, made any more free, by letting it get away with not justifying its existence with welfare and infrastructure.

nor has killing and dying ever made anyone free.

the management of infrastructure is the only justification for any kind of hierarchy.
the well being of everyone is the only need for social organization of any kind.

this makes me what you might in idiological jargon call an eco-socialist anarcho-pacifist. i call it simply being honest and realistic.
