Is this the start of a new trend, or merely a blip on an overall trend of male subjugation? What is your opinion?

Personally, I hope that this is the beginning of a new trend, where 'equality' begins to mean it. I think both genders need to stand back and asses where the real problems are, and tackle the ones where there is real injustice, such as in lack of oppurtunities for women, Statuatory rape against men, the Victorian belief in Unilateral Chivalry and real problems.

I'm a little confused here. It would make sense if they wanted the same pay for the same job, but they're complaining that one job - which happens to be predominantly female - negotiated a better pay scale than their own job?

I suppose it might be discrimination based on sex, but it doesn't appear to be based on the information given.

interesting. they should see if any female blacksmiths, electricians, painters and scaffolders are also paid the same as their male counterparts... as well as any male clerical staff with their female counterparts.

besides... "union leaders argue compensation should be paid retrospectively for the previous five years." arn't the unions supposed to prevent this from happening?

time to check how much in dues they are paying...

Hmm, interesting. On the two forums I've posted this on, I've got radically different responses...

This seems a slightly controversial action, how strange.

I wonder if any women will file sex discrimination charges against the penis model industry one of these days.

The workers include blacksmiths, electricians, painters and scaffolders.

They say that compared to predominantly female clerical staff they suffered a substantial loss of basic pay and allowances in recent pay deals.

OH NOES! People doing a totally different job are being paid a different amount of money! Sexism! Sexism!

This reminds me of a story about male san fran firefighters who sued over sexual discrimination or somthng. The lesbian firecheif made them go to a gay prideparade and the men (mostly married) were verbally harrased.

It's ridiculous, but every year various feminist pressure groups moan about pay disparity without mentioning whether it's in equal jobs or not.

Strange, we must be telepathic because I found myself thinking the same thing when I read the article. If two people are doing different jobs, they shouldn't expect the same pay. Even if people are doing the same job, if one has far more years of experience then his/her pay will reflect it, while the other's pay will reflect the lack of work experience in that field, but the pay will be raised over the years.

I don't think that they're complaining about the fact that they're being paid differently, I think they're complaining that the recent changes in pay have not impacted them equally.

We clearly have a deep and meaningful spiritual connection, and should have lots of hot sex.

Who's your mate, Chuck? The one with the beard?

Excellent spelling and grammar you have there. You might want to use a dictionary though ... (hint: the long one which starts with a "d".)
