I just saw this on the news, googled and it's already Digged.

You can't be the president and the head of the military at the same time," Bush said, describing a telephone call with Gen. Pervez Musharraf. "I had a very frank discussion with him."

I think, and by all means don't quote me on this one, but I think his status is.....dead from the neck up?

Sometimes I almost pity Bush. I mean, he has the whole world watching for every mistake he makes, and he clearly struggles with the English language.

Then he says something like this and I'm too busy laughing at the dosy git to pity him.

I sometimes pity his staff.

The BS they must put up with...

Pfft, what does Bush know about the Constitution anyway?

According to Pakistan's constitution you can't be in the military and hold that office, and you have to be retired for a certain number of years, I believe. This is all from what I heard on the radio while doing something else, so I have a limited understanding of this.

But that's what Bush is referring to. In our constitution being president makes you the head of the military, but not a military commander per se.

How dare you attempt to disrupt our Bush Bashing with facts and reasoned statements?!

Dude, it hurts me as much as it hurts you, but it's Bush we're talking about. Give it five minutes and he'll give us something else.

This is true.

In the US, Bush holds the rank of Commander-In-Chief - the top dog. However, he is not technically a member of the armed forces. And his control vanishes the moment he leaves office.

To be honest, I accept the point but his wording is just wrong - he's the head of the military.

Now it may be fair to say that it's easy to poke fun but, knowing that, is there not a member of his staff that would point out the stupidity of this statement.

*puts on tinhat*

Or does he deliberately say these things so create these divisive ponts, knowing that one camp will say 'haha what an idiot' whereas the other will say, 'come on, you know what he means'.

I mean, it just seems too obviously a stupid statement to make.

Complete Fucking Idiot in Chief.

Given Bush's 'knowledge' of the US Constitution, I don't think he bothered to learn about the Pakistani one. Though I'm sure some one in his staff had to learn about it, maybe they should convey to him how ours works.
