Fondest memory from your child hood/growin up?
I can't say that I really have one, but I am interested in hearing the stories of others :)
When I got a pony.
You know whats spooky? I just updated my Facebook status to "Thomas is wanting a pony" and I was talking to a lady friend of mine about how I wanted to go ride horses..

I guess fondest would have to be spending time with my family and friends. Ahh I used to be close to my neighborhood friends, after school everyday, we would get together and play in the woods. Hell we even built bike tracks and held racing competition at a different track every day. We did a lot of fun things.

It gets spookier. I just noticed you're location is Southern Illinois. That's where I got my pony. In the town of Springfield. We lived on Palamino Road in a neighborhood called Valley View.

Springfield, as in the capital? Its in central Illinois, but close enough to be creepy! ;)
Going to my grandmother's house. Every time we went, I got a toy (cheap ones..but I still had fun with them).

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!Watch it, or he'll fall into whatever else is open on you!!! :p
Speaking of which, i suppose nursing, burping, potty-training, spanking and getting my temperature taken are out, right?
Have to go with the eating the entire bottle-full of baby aspirin. Or playing with the bear cub up by McKinley. Or when i tried to get in on my neighbours' Santa action and discovering Santa was just his dad, and that he had *no* intention of getting me any more rubber dinosaurs i could hide my less-favourite dinner items in.
Or the time i fell out of the tree about 100'+ up and walking away without a scratch. Or the time i set that "little" forest fire ....

When some friends of mine asked me to move in with them :) Best day evar!!
probably the first time i saw a model railroad. i was all of about one year old, or maybe two. i think i was walking by then, and saying googoo daadaa.
at any rate this guy my dad knew from at work, my dad was a towerman/tellegrapher/clerk for the railroads all his working life, had a single track all the way arround his basement. it was h.o., which in 1949, which is the year we're talking about here, that was an amazing myrical of miniaturization in and of itself. but the trippy thing was, and it was just bare track on a narrow shelf, it had a working signal system and automatic control. the train was just one little trolley and it would go all the way around to this one place where it would stop, that then start going again all the way around to the same spot and stop and reverse again.
you've got to understand this was before integrated circuits or even transisters.
it was all mechanical relay logic, which was all there was in those days, and the guy, who'se name i think was wilkie, was a signal maintainer for the railroad my father was working for at the time. and this was in buffalo new york, before we moved out to california which happened in 1951, when i was three.

The day my mother sat me down at the kitchen table to tell me that she was leaving my father and I was welcome to come and stay with her. Bestest day EVER :)

When I was really small I used to drive the tractors with my Dad and avoid being trampled by cattle when they were being moved. Good times

Going to my grandparents' house. We went quite often when I was small. My grandpa would always give me an orange soda.
Or when my grandpa would take me out for donuts and chocolate milk right after school. He made me promise to eat supper. I never did. :D I'm shocked my mom didn't forbid him to take me out for treats.
