Charity
If you don't think that government is being funded adequately, why not make a personal donation? Why do so many who believe that government is underfunded in one way or another so often and so quickly demand that other people pay through a tax hike? If there really were an obvious and serious lack of funding, the service in question was vital to the survival of...something important, and you believed that other people understood this, then why not start a donation drive, like on TPT or 99.5?
The government is funded just fine.
There is a problem with how they waste..er..utilize the money.

The government seriously wastes a shitload of money. My friend works for the government and they just had to pay an extra $3 million simply due to mismanagement of finances.

I don't directly or indirectly give anyone who is richer than me money. If I don't need it neither do they. Unless of course I wan't to get a cut in my taxes...which is kinda the problem.
People, the only way to help the government have enough money is to stop helping the needy.

Economy of scale. The more people paying, the less cost per person. It's good enough for the capitalist, so...
Edit: Well, this explains taxes anyway, not necessarily a tax hike. Although, if those who insist on destroying the economy of scale by hiding out in off shore tax havens and such would stop doing so and contribute like everyone else, then maybe the economy of scale would actually work, and a tax hike might be unnecessary. Might even manage a reduction in tax rates.
So, blame a rich person at the next tax hike ;)

Of course, the problem currently is not the lack of funding, but the misuse of funds.

Ah, I see. I never looked at it from the perspective of the tax promoter. Why piss away my money on worthless crap when I could steal other people's hard earned wages with the full force of the federal, state, or local government and piss that away on the same worthless crap? I wouldn't have to pay as much and no one would have a choice in the matter.
So, blame a rich person at the next tax hike ;)
No. No, I think I'll blame the legislators who introduce and pass it. And the collectors and police who enforce it.
I'm getting an idea for a new thread.

Charity is an undignified way for the rich to feel better about themselves and have 'ethical' concern for 'less fortunate' (meaning exploited), it's a disgusting 'mercy' industry which puts the poor at the 'gratitude' of the rich for 'helping' them, it's a way to fool the public into thinking that the rich are 'compassionate' and 'generous' when in fact charity is a small compensation for those screwed by the capitalist exploitation machine. It's totally 100% against egalitarianism and is just a rerun of the capitalist welfare state the new 'Left reformers' are s obsessed about. Socialism is not about charity or 'helping' the 'less fortunate', it's not about regulating capitalism or using private means to smooth off it's horrible edges, socialism is popular empowerment at it's most literal level, it is self-management and interdependence rather than just having a permanent under class dependent on (or so it is portrayed) the rich. It's doesn't matter if the capitalist class are willing to give some money to charity, helping the masses is not just getting them a somewhere to sleep, something to eat and a job, socialism is not giving the bare essentials, socialism is about genuine equality and self-management, it's people's power - whether in politics at work or wherever, it's anti-regimentation at every level of society.

You had it right the first time. "Waste" is a much more accurate word than "utilize". lol :D
