I once heard about a servey that showed leftwingers like and have cats more and rightwingers like and have dogs more . Now I am on the right and I have a cat. So i was wondering if that servey was true with the people here, or are you just a cold hearted bastard and don't have a pet?

I have a guinea pig. I think that means that I am a liberation theologian.

Well, right wing ideas can be seen as more masculine (like a dog), and left wing ideas can be seen as more feminine (like a cat).

I'm rather liberal and I adore my cats.

I had a dog that died last year, now I have two cats, about 50 sea monkeys, 4 African Clawed dwarf frogs and as of this morning about 10 tadpoles.

I'm left wing and I prefer dogs and I do know a fair few people who are right-wingers and like cats. I guess it's probably down to up-bringing and the like more.

I like bunnies. I am socially liberal but economically authoritarian, which means anyone can own bunnies, breed bunnies, train bunnies, even cook and eat bunnies (if you must, though I certainly won't), but you've got to apply through the state in order to get some. I suspect there's no direct correlation. I could be wrong.

I'm personally a cat person. They're so expressive and so very similar to humans in their range of emotions, it's kinda eery. But, I love my dogs too. And bunnies. And horses... the list goes on

I guess I'm just fond of animals in general.

This does make some sense. A lot of the right-wing base includes rural hunters who happen to own dogs and rarely cats.

I have a cat, but do not expressly sit on the left or the right.... Being a libertarian and all, my leftishness or rightishness depends on what the issue is.

Cats are usually more free-spirited than dogs. People that like free spirits would tend to be more liberal, and people that like things they can more easily control, such as dogs, would be more conservative. At least that's the logic, I think. I'm a liberal, and I'd pick a cat over a dog any day.

I see cats as living a free association life style so if anything they'd tend to be more anarchist.

Varying amounts of cats, dogs, gerbils, guinea pigs rabbits and fish over the years. Oddly enough all the mammals have always been female.

Currently I have no pets. Unless you count the 18-year-old Lithuanian who lives with us. He needs house training though.

Cats are individualists who believe that they are completely independent and owe nothing to anyone. They believe that they are fully capable of providing their own food by hunting and defending their own territory with their own four razor sharp claws. They believe all this blissfully unaware of the fact that they only reason that they don't have to defend themselves from dogs and don't starve killing only one bird or squirrel every 6 months because they've got the support of an entire society behind them.

Cats are right wingers.

Dogs, in a pack, will provide support to any member, no matter how useless. Blind, crippled, about to drop dead from disease, the Omega will still get a share of the food and the sympathy. They also have no idea of their own power and will accept a submissive role before an authority figure it could kill with a sharp bite.

Dogs are left wingers.

Nope. Haven't been stung by anything. Hornets, the occasional wasp, none of them. But then again, I generally don't run around like a headless chicken when flying insects with poisonous stings show up or try to swat them. Overreaction gets you stung.

Well, in my family we have both a cat and a dog...but I'm a left winger, and I get along only with the cat.

Somehow the dog is just dumb to me, all it does is pick things and chews on them, it can't jump and sit on the window's border to make my neighbors jealous of it's beauty like my cat does, and the cat is a dream because it goes and poops in the box all the time, which is so awesome and respectful and so left wing! :D
