Where would you rather vacation?

OK, hypothetical question.

Your work is giving a week or two of paid vacation (all expenses paid, also) at a very nice hotel at one of these two locations. You can only choose!

Birmingham, Alabama?

Or Paris, France?

France, duh.

Birmingham or Paris?

Why two such boring options?

I chose them rather arbitrarily.

Paris, France, no contest.

I don't about the rest of you, but from where I am from we try to avoid Alabama. Incest is frowned upon back home.

I've never been to Birmingham, but since it's in Alabama I'll go with Paris. I'm not a huge fan of Paris and I've never been able to spend more than a day or two there without being driven nuts by the sheer mass of humanity there.

I'd probably spend the entire time in the Louvre. The last time I was there was only for about 3 hours because my girlfriend had to pick her mom up at Charles de Gaulle. How I hate that airport, and I hate the RER ride there even more.

Hmmm...I'll tell my employer, "Thanks, but no thanks," and report to work during that time.

I've been to Paris, it was nice.

I'd rather go to Sedona Arizona. Hey! That's where I'll be in two weeks!

Paris, of course. Alabama? Yuck.

How I hate that airport, and I hate the RER ride there even more.

Amateur. For anything outside of zones 1-2 one takes a taxi.

LA PAZ, there are some isolated, secluded very very nice
beaches.
or the San Juan Islands, the greenery rocks.
Yellowstone Park is awesome too.

Are we expected to have heard of Birmingham, Alabama? The only Birmingham I've heard of is the original English one.

Is that a serious question? Paris, no question. Why hell would anyone vacation in Alabama.

why is this even a poll? the most famous tourist destination on earth and the most obscure tourist destination on earth (tourists avoid it for a reason). get some better options to match paris (or worse options to match birmingham:))

Yay! All-expenses paid vacation! I'll go to ... actually, I want to go out and tour Washington and Oregon. Get as far away from home as I can and stay in the continental U.S. Or Duluth, MN, is supposed to be beautiful in the spring. (Sucks that it's fall.)

Neither. Given real choices, I would go to Alaska, Germany, Britain, Hawaii, New England - not Paris and not Birmingham.

QFT.

But if I had to choose anyway, then I'll choose Birmingham because it will probably the only time I'll be there :D That said, I try to avoid Paris as much as possible, I don't like the place. For one, they're unwilling to speak anything else then French and when I try to speak French they're upset because my french is horrible (although I at least am willing to try to speak something else besides my native tongue, sheesh).

Oh, and Paris is overrated, it has some nice art museums, a nice bit of history, a theme park but that's it. Maybe also a night life, but I'd probably find it to big and classy anyway.

So I'll go with Birmingham, Alabama :)

Interesting, I've usually only heard Americans or Germans get that reaction....it's interesting to hear it happens to other people in Paris, also....
