China, as we all very well know, is a rapidly growing world power that will overtake the US soon. What does NSG think of this shift from an American hegemony to a Chinese one. Worse? Better? The Same? Please discuss.

Won't happen. China may, however, come very close or even become on par with the United States of America. But as of right now the Chinese economy is growing to fast while be supported by a fragile base and one little mistake could send it tumbling back to a 1900 style China.

Now, if the United States continues to initiate one royal fuck-up after another royal fuck-up; then I can see, in the future, the United States sinking into oblivion while China and the European Union rise to pick up the pieces.

First off, there's no such thing as "will happen" in geopolitics and economics. Is it likely that one day China will surpass the US as the dominant world power? Perhaps.

To answer your question however...well...let me put it this way. I'll be glad when the day comes that my nation's no longer in the spotlight. And so long as China maintains open trade with the US, I'll be happy.

Seriously though, it's time the US just...y'know...took a break.

China's economy tanks and it's going to take a lot of others with it. Think Great Depression. I for one welcome the Chinese rise to power, let the world look to them every time someone needs protecting.

What? We've only been Number One for about seventeen years! At least let us have our fun for as long as Britain did. Fifty more years and I promise, we'll step down.

China won't have hegemony...it's that simple. The "new world order" will be a multipolar world where no single nation or pair of nations will be able to dominate like the US and USSR did during the Cold War. This, of course, has its own advantages and drawbacks; it makes it very difficult to take any kind of unilateral action but also bogs down international policymaking.

The primary benefit, of course, is more peace. Everyone checks each other and grows dependent on each other, making war a much less attractive option.
