What the...(Terminator TV series...)

Cannot think of a name

I just saw a teaser for this (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0851851/) during Family Guy...

Am I the last to know about this?

I don't really know how to feel...apparently it's between T2 and T3...so that it doesn't effect T4 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438488/) apparently.

Didn't we elect Arnie governor to put a stop to this?

Hey, if theyre going to do a star wars tv series, why not?

Im sure it will be equally as lame.

Wasn't that going to be animated, though? Everyone knows animated doesn't count...

Is animated, and has already run. It's actually better than any of the 3 prequels - more developed characters, actually cool action sequences, and a plot that's not entirely riddled with holes.

I don't think he's talking about that Clone Wars series of shorts, but a further development of that.

Nope. quite live action.

Based between III and IV.

Featuring Han Solo's origin, along with the early lives of Luke and Leia, among other characters.
Lucas claims he will be involved with it for the first year or two, and then leave it to other writers.
Considering the likely high-cost of the special effects budget, I have to wonder if it will be picked up.

They're making new ones on top of that. A new longer CGI Clone Wars (they've planned about 100 episodes) and a live-action one that is apparently going to go for years, span hundrends of episodes, and split into multiple series focusing on different characters at some point

I've known about this for months. Summer something, she played River on Firefly, is going to be the new good-guy Terminator.

I really don't know what to say about this but it wouldn't be kind.

Summer Glau. That's a positive; she's a good actor.

She's good looking, she can actually act, and she does very well with action sequences. All in all not a bad deal.

Summer Glau is a very good actor. Thomas Dekker (who will play John Connor) is also a good actor - he was Zach on Heroes.

I'll watch it, at least the first couple of episodes.

Not to get all ubercynical, but can anyone be genuinely surprised? I feel more like I had a mild hope that Lucas would let Star Wars rest and whoever originally drafted Terminator would, too. However, so long as there's money to be made, it will happen. Just go to your local video store and see that there are a profusion of low-budget imitator films for major titles, which means that even the bottom feeders are making enough to keep cranking them out.

Oh, dude, I'm surprised. Just last week I was looking up one of my favourite movies ever, I Walked with a Zombie, on the web. Did a search for it on imdb.com and got two results. The second was a remake scheduled for 2009. It came as an incredible shock... But then again maybe I'm not surprised. The Cat People was. Psycho was. This was only a matter of time.

Yeah, I've known about it for sometime now. An uber-teen-chick-terminator-that's-kinda-nice will be protecting John Connor. It's worth a shot I guess.

Oh crap no, that looks terrible. You can see the whiny Hollywood ‘politics’ in the trailer, and I imagine the film will be the same: confused, meaningless political statements.

For once, I don’t want to see a superhero fight ‘terrorists’.

C'mon now, Iron Man has always been about fighting terrorists and political activity. AIM is really just Al Queda with snappy uniforms and Iron Man fought Communists throughout most of his early career. It's only consistent that this iteration would have him fight our current political bogyman. And Iron Man has always been an 'issues' super hero-he fought alcoholism in the comics. This adaptation seems entirely consistent.

You're right about Iron Man's history of fighting oppressors or afflictions, so I suppose I can't fault the writers for their choice of Bad Guy, but I can't see Hollywood making a decent 'statement' about the current political climate.

I'm pre-supposing a lot of things here, but I can foresee a badly-written "we're against the War on Terror, but Iron Man looks cool when he's kicking terrorist ass" theme.

Ahhh, cynicism. :D

I dig the hell out of Iron Man. I kinda like the look of the trailer so far, especially the fact that he first shows up in the Mk 1 armor. It can still be bad, but so far I'm diggin' it.

Iron Man the movie...ehh, I dunno, Iron Man was a bit like Spidey, in the sense that he always got the bottom of the barrel when it came to villians.
I mean, any evil jackass who built a "powersuit" got to play with Iron Man.
It usually went poorly for them.
Then there was the Mandarin, and his wacky rings. Never quite "got" him.

It could be cool...or...not so much.

But as far as T4 goes, I dont care as long as whomever "The Terminator" is, it does one thing...kill indescriminately, and frequently. In other words, TERMINATE.
T2 made me howl...a terminator who "isnt allowed to kill?!!
What the hell else is it good for...its a TERMINATOR!!!!!
