EVE Online

Does anyone else play EVE Online? I tired it awhile back but was put off by how complex it was. However, I'm trying it again now (with a help from a friend) and It's actually a pretty awesome MMORPG. I can see why it gets such a high rating, and everyone is on one world so fun stuff!

I'm AndrewX on EVE Online if anyone else on here plays the game.

I did the 14 day trial, and loved it.

Alas, all of our PCs for some reason couldn't get internet connections (one just simply won't, the other had its antennae knocked off - we use wireless internets) so I couldn't actually get it.

Oh, and the monthly fee was a bit of a problem.

So now I call it my favorite MMORPG that I've never played.

Didn't think people would understand what "eponymous" means, did you?

Played it for about a month, it was kinda meh honestly. The depth and such seemed neat, but I didn't know anyone playing it and playing an MMO alone is just stupid.

Actually eponymous doesn't mean exactly what I thought it did.

I love the idea of EVE Online, and I'd love to play it. What prevented me before was that I would never have been able to pay the monthly fees. Even though I'd still love to play it, I'm not sure if there'll be much point this late in the game, so to speak.

I really like the idea of the game, but you really need to be in a corp off the bat to have fun in it, imo, and I just never fell into one.

read the forums and it sounded like an ace game but couldnt justify the start up costs :(

and barr the fighting theres no depth to the game its just a pumping game with battle inbetween and when in battles all target and destroy one ship at a time ... that said if i had the money i would have signed up yonks ago (and econ(ebay) might hold hope for those that play like it but feel they are to far behind point/skill wise to compete)

out of all the pay monthly games (of that price) eve online would be the one id play

I am playing it as I post. I absolutely love this game - wait, my missile launchers ran out - hold on a sec.

OK.

I'm Nachshon on EVE Online. Wilgrove, I'll look you up.

Totally awesome game, BTW. Try the 14-day trial - the learning curve is a bit steep, and the world is cutthroat, but it is a blast if you play it right.

^ Ditto.

Most of my friends play WoW, so it's my MMO of choice until we all migrate to something better.

New players can find themselves handicapped and might feel that they will never be able to compete.

However, balancing this is the fact that no player can ever have higher than 5 levels in any particular skill. This means that while veterans may have a wider ranging skill set it is still perfectly possible for a new player, by careful specialisation, to be every bit as skilled in narrow areas as any of the vets. It works.

I have 2 active EVE accounts, dating from early 2004. I don't play as often as I would like, because I simply don't have enough time :(

I loved it,

then my badger got podded...

The only MMO I spend any time on these days is the almighty Ultima Online.

Tried it and loved it, but I couldn't justify paying money for it.
