Yeah, it's that time again. Since Jolt has no search function, and spending hours to look through hundreds of pages is ten degrees of ridiculous, I'm bringing a new Voice thread to General. It's pretty simple, really. Just record yourself saying anything, upload it to a file hosting website (preferably Putfile), and post the link here. I'll start things off.

Actually, it's not as nasty as one would imagine. It's usually asymptomatic and only rarely causes sore throats. The mono test, if only one of those quick tests for agglutinative/heterophile antibodies, could be a false negative especially in the first week, but I suppose they did the microscopy for atypical lymphocytes or either plan to repeat the quick test or do a proper serology.

hm...interesting.
They plan on retesting me for mono if I don't get better within the week. That is what I get for going through campus health.
Mind you, there is nothing better than giving blood when completely dehydrated and when you haven't had a meal in 2 days, so not looking forward to a repeat. Not to mention, I can't afford to miss that much class.

Meh, it's really actually quite pointless to go looking for it when the test is negative at first because it's not like it changes treatment, even though one does it because them's the guidelines. At least then one can give advice about the risk for spleen rupture, or ponder giving valaciclovir treatment if one finds it, but then again it's too late for that after a week, so...

Pretty much, yeah. And seeing as I don't feel like waiting another three hours with a bunch of sick people for a blood test, I think I'll just pass and take it easy a bit.

Funny how people want to point at the US and laugh at how everyone is monolingual as you say. There are over 300 languages spoken in the US. Sixty million + Americans speak another language outside of English in their homes. Given that the US does not have a multitude of small nations around it that speak different languages I would say that as a nation the different languages found can be surprising.

You sure have a narrow view of the US. You may want to educate yourself.
As far as official languages the US doesn't have one. So a bit hard to recognize it as a second language officially. However it is a de facto second language.
Also I haven't heard Latin Americans referred to as wetbacks at all.

I didn't claim the USA had an official language. There is a push by right-wingers to get one, though, and it ain't Spanish the want, but it is Spanish that's making them strive for it. Just as we regularly have threads here about news of them getting upset when Spanish gets more recognition.
Also I haven't heard Latin Americans referred to as wetbacks at all.

Also I haven't heard Latin Americans referred to as wetbacks at all.
It's mainly a southern thing, I think. I have a friend in Maryland who was similarly un-knowing.
Im a little sickly. Deal with it:p

I get rather...less than flattering responses when I indulge in threads such as these, but i'll happily lurk and listen to everyone else. :D
Ok, maybe I won't. I might do it tomorrow, unless I forget again.

I have no recordings of myself speaking. Not that anyone wants to hear my stupid sounding low voice and bay area accent anyway.
The only recordings of my voice were made for my band.... so it's pretty much either singing or screeching black metal style.

Oh, that totally reminds me: I watched a whole bunch of episodes of "House" in English recently and although I don't even like the one character who's Australian it turns out that the Australian accent is actually kind of... cute/sexy after all.

Yeah, it's that time again. Since Jolt has no search function, and spending hours to look through hundreds of pages is ten degrees of ridiculous, I'm bringing a new Voice thread to General.
We needed a new voice thread about as much as there is no search function with Jolt.

You're ashamed of your closet-case voice? Don't be; it's cute.

Voice threads are always fun. :)

Looks like this is turning out well so far. We still need more clips, of course.

The original was to let everybody on General see what everybody sounded like. Excellent premise.
The redux, by Smunk, was just a simple redux.
And then another simple redux.
And another.
And another.
And then, there's mine, which actually has a goal, and that's to get at least one definitive recording from each poster on their player profile. Not that I said anything about that in the OP...

my original redux rocked, because I said so.
Also, I once had the idea of like getting the samples on the player profile but didn't do anything about it, so I join in your campaign to make that happen (like I actually have any clout or anything and somesuch.)

Time for NSG remix!
Seriously, once we get enough someone can start cutting, add some music, and boom, the "NSG Chorus Presents..."

I say hurl. If you blow chunks and it comes back, it's yours. But if you spew and they bolt, then it was never meant to be.
