Your thoughts on Michael Jordan?

How old were you when MJ retired in 1998? What are your thoughts on this man?

In my opinion he was the greatest. No one will ever exceed him. For those of you old enough to comprehend what was going on when Michael Jordan was with the Bulls, I congratulate you. For those of you who were too young to watch Air at his prime... all I can say is - man oh man, I wish you could've seen him play.

As for his second comeback - that was a thorough travesty. If I was Stalin or something I would seize and destroy all evidence of his time with the Wizards, I would destroy all of his Wizards merchandise, and use a huge magnet to destroy all tape of him playing as a Washington Wizard. No one needs to know about his second comeback, and I would erase all evidence of it from the historical record. Also no one needs to know about the way he ran the Wizards organization into the ground with his horrid front office management. His tenure with the Bulls was all that humanity needs. It was the closest thing to perfection I've ever seen.

Well, seeing as I was a kid living in Chicago when the Bulls won their six championships, I figure I saw every minute of every Bulls playoff game they played between 1991 and 1998. Good stuff, of course, and of course I and everyone I knew had a semi-religious devotion to basketball at that time. :)

Get out of my sight!

Lol - how about we throw in those baseball years for good measure - wasn't there a Loony Toon film as well?

I always preferred Scottie Pippen.

Surely Ron Harper was a more all-around, and therefore more Jordanesque, player than Pippen.

Possibly but, to switch sports briefly, I always saw Pippen as similar to Makalele at Real Madrid - an anchor to the team as opposed to an outright star, perhaps Harper is better suited to that analogy but, in the end, it comes down to personal preference - he just seemed to be everywhere on the court.

Awesome basketball player, and a rather better actor than Shaq (I mean, Kazzam, anybody? Space Jam was way better!)

MJ was an amazing player. I just think he got in over his head a number of times in his later career.

MJ shouldn't be sleeping with all them young boys, and he shoudln't have dangled that baby from the balcony. He was all right back in the "Thriller" days, and he was rockin' in the earlier Motown years. All in all, he's just too weird for me now.

I have a great deal of respect for Michael Jordan. When he was with the Bulls, he was the greatest player of his time, and still is one of the greatest in history. Also, another thing I respect about Michael Jordan is the fact that he, unlike so many other great players on the court nowadays, was a good role model for young aspiring basketball players. He worked hard on and off the court and didn't get in trouble. He showed good teamwork with the other Bulls, and helped them become better players. It's similar to what I saw the year my favorite team, the T-Wolves, had Kevin Garnett, Latrell Sprewell, and Sam Cassell. For his time with the Bulls, he was, is and always will be Air Jordan.
