Guilty Pleasure

So what's everyones dirty little (non-sexual) secret? For instance, mine is that I secretly listen to Dido when I think no one is around.
Post, laugh, joke. These kinda posts usually are good for a laugh.

I replaced all the good music (The Who, Rolling Stones etc) on my MP3 player with Tokio Hotel. German emo-pop. That is a very guilty pleasure.

I do that too. Mostly I comment on what is going wrong.
Of course many explicatives are used.

OK look, I fucking... ok I really don't want to have to say this. For fucks sake...
Ok, here goes.
I sometimes like watching star treck (mainly the next generation). I'm sorry, I don't know what is wrong with me, so just stfu.
I talk to my self sometimes when i'm alone.

Has someone distinguished between guilty pleasures and shameful ones? I feel like people are getting confused.
A guilty pleasure is one that is "bad" for me or by which I deprive myself of something better: thus, eating delicious but unhealthy food; or, perhaps, watching mindless reality shows when I should be working.
A shameful pleasure is not necessarily "bad for me," but I am nevertheless shamed to admit it because I fear someone might judge my taste. I feel like many of those mentioned so far are really things of which people are (mildly) ashamed rather than genuinely guilty pleasures that they feel are bad for them.
Obviously, of course, there can be some overlap.

Guilt=Shame, Shame=/=Guilt
When you feel guilty about something, do you you feel proud? No. But when you feel ashamed, there isn't necessarily something to be guilty about. For example, I feel ashamed to walk with my mom at the mall, but there is nothing I can do, so I don't feel guilty.
For the purposes of this thread, they overlap completely. Quit being so pedantic.

No, it doesn't.
When I have a large ice cream, I feel a pang of guilt thinking about the extra calories I'll have to work off.
But am I ashamed? Not in the least. Who doesn't like ice cream?

I am guessing that your guilty pleasure is that you enjoy taking simple little fun discussions and weighing them down with a ton of bricks and pushing them overboard?

Still guilt is usually characterized by shame.No. Only, perhaps, when I feel on some level that I cannot help myself.
Guilt is an erotic response relating, in the case of "guilty pleasures," to the inevitability of opportunity cost.
Shame is a narcissistic response to a disjunct between an actual and an ideal self.
There is no necessary relationship between the two. In fact, psychologists sometimes distinguish "guilt-prone" from "shame-prone" individuals, because in some ways the dominance of one in a personality actually precludes any strong influence of the other.

All my friends were astonished when I told them I liked "Happy Feet" (though I refuse to call that movie "bad", it certainly was sappy)... things like that just ruin my reputation. :)

I go off in wild flights of fantasy where I have the powers of Darth Vader and the Emperor.
And I would define guilt as "a feeling of having committed wrong or failed in an obligation," while shame is more "a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior." I would thus consider guilt a subset of shame, because it is an unpleasant feeling caused by "consciousness of a wrong." After daydreaming, I feel ashamed, because I think it is foolish behavior. I don't think it is sinful behavior, though.
But for the purposes of this post, they are the same. That's why this is in small font. It's just not that important.

My guilty pleasure is......
Soap operas - while I appreciate viewing foreign films, documentaries and attending film festivals, etc., there are few things i enjoy more than a chocolate milkshake, a toasted cheese sandwich and a good hour with Days of Our Lives or the Bold and the Beautiful, feet up on the couch. Sheer bliss and something I get teased for by those who know me. Thing is, I bet they do it, too! I have no shame over it at all ;) I just figure they don't know what they are missing.

My guilty pleasure is "The Killer Eye". This schlock is so dreadful, it's the only film I know that would be improved by being a porn....yet I watch the godawful piece of crap every time I'm alone.
Any film adaptation of Jane Austen. If I'm asked what my favorite movie is, I'll respond "The Godfather" in a gruff manly voice - but I've actually seen Pride & Prejudice at least twice as many times. (Sense & Sensibility, also) Ah hell, I've seen Shakespeare in Love more times than Highlander. I just love women in period costume!
What slash fanfiction do you read?
Harry Potter. Particularly the Draco/Harry stuff.
Mostly because I don't read or watch anything else that produces a sufficient quantity of fan fiction for actually half-decent stuff to appear on a regular basis.

Harry Potter. Never really looked into the fanfiction scene there. I've mostly been looking at slash fiction in anime cuz I'm an ubernerd. I must say, the Naruto/Sasuke pairing from Naruto is getting a little old. This one site I troll, literally 3/4s of all fics written are Naruto/Sasuke yaoi. And it's not even a site devoted to yaoi!

Slash has really become a fan fiction phenomenon.
An interesting contrast with the prevailing heteronormativity of mainstream published fiction.

Yeah, indeed. Some it is really well written, but a lot of it sucks hardcore. Little plot, very little lead up, lots of lemons with few reasons.
Unfortunately, I read slash/femslash for the romance, and not that many people spend a lot of time trying to develop that part. Those that do usually do it well though.
I dunno, I guess seeing odd couples succeed against insurmountable odds gives me warm fuzzies. I really am a sap when it comes down to it. :)

What is slash, exactly?
I believe wiki said it best:
"Slash fiction is a genre of fan fiction. It focuses on the depiction of sexual or romantic relationships between two or more male characters, who are not necessarily engaged in relationships in the canon universe. While the term originally was restricted to fan fiction in which one or more male media characters were involved in an explicit adult relationship as a primary plot element, it is currently more generally used to refer to any pairing between male characters. The term is also sometimes applied to fiction focusing on relationships between female characters; however, some fans distinguish femslash as a separate genre.
The name arises from the use of the slash symbol (/) in the description of the primary pairing involved in the story, as compared to the ampersand (&) conventionally used for friendship fiction."

As for What Not To Wear, it is a decent way to pass the time when I have once again lost my remote, but no, I don't regularly watch it.

Here is another one of mine.
Sometimes, instead of looking at a girl's chest, I'll be secretly thinking "Gosh, that outfit looks horrible on her."
I think it's because my mother never hugged me enough. Oh well, I'm off to visit a dominatrix.
