Stretch Mercedes - owned by Pol Pot - for sale at eBay

Some former limo of Pol Pot is for sale at eBay.

I don't feel good about it.

You have to be a sick prick to pay too much for an old car, just 'cause it was Pol Pot his car (and you're not even sure).

You have to be a sick prick to make money on the back of a mass murderer.

I hope that the profit is used for the Cambodian people (but probably it is not).

The current bid is US $71,799.00

Saloth Sar (May 19, 1925 – April 15, 1998), aliases Pol, Pouk, Hay, Grand-Uncle, First Brother, '87', Phem, '99', and best known as Pol Pot[1], was the leader of the Khmer Rouge and the Prime Minister of Cambodia (officially renamed the Democratic Kampuchea during his rule) from 1976 to 1979, having been de facto leader since mid-1975. During his time in power Pol Pot imposed an extreme version of agrarian communism where city dwellers were relocated to the countryside to work in collective farms and forced labour projects. The combined effect of slave labour, malnutrition, poor medical care and executions is estimated to have killed around 2 million Cambodians[citation needed] (approximately a quarter of the population).[citation needed] His regime achieved special notoriety for singling out all intellectuals and other "bourgeois enemies" for murder.

What do you want done with it? Driving it might be considered even more distasteful than selling it. Leaving it to rot is pointless. A guy made a clever investment and is reaping the rewards. Fair play to him. It's just a car, not a weapon or torture implement or anything.

I would take pleasure into buying it, and then giving it to some wealthy Cambodian for poetic justice. Only before strapping Pol Pot's corpse to the undercarriage so he could eat every inch of road in the country he destroyed.

Pol Pot owned a Mercedes? Irony.

I wouldn't buy it. The sole reason being is that the price is probably jacked up.

I would buy it, and then let a Cambodian museum display it (no charge of course). While it may seem sick that it was owned by a mass murderer such as Pol Pot, that is what makes the car a part of history - it was owned by this man at the same time as he was telling people to work themselves to death for the sake of the state.

Of course, alternately, I would get someone to drive it over a landmine and do some good for once.

It's odd that Pol Pot didn't own a ZIL or Chaika.

If your just giving it away why don't you give it to a peasant

That would embody the concept of the white elephant...not exactly a good idea.

How do we know it's not an ordinary stretch Mercedes? (granted, there probably aren't a lot of them, but...)
