"high"

People gues all vowels, and are stuck with _ I _ _.
People guess R and S and other common consonants and still have _ I _ _.
People think you're trying to trick them, so they switch to Z and X and other rare letters, but it's still _ I _ _.

There's only one word that long. Plus, it contains so many different letters that the odds of failing are almost zero.

If anyone uses the chemical name for titin in hangman I tip their hat to them.

but since they only got the Y, they'll turn to common letters -- and at R _ Y T _ _ they may very well figure it out.

More to the point - what poor bastard had to write that name up?

Even at a pretty decent 100 words per minute, that would take about 32 hours of solid effort.

Who said you'd write it? Just write a program to come up with a random protein string then print it out.

Nothing too long - more letters means more chance of them guessing. Likewise not too many repeated letters - if they get that letter they're halfway there.

'Axe' always worked quite well for me :)
