There are woods in the Rio Grande Valley? I'm not challenging you, I want you to explain to me what you mean by woods. When someone says woods to me, I think of a forest type area -as I show in the picture I made for you :), what do you mean by woods?

well it does have its downsides. the phone line is literally run from fence post to fence post 1/4 mile from the closest road. i had to invent an address to get the phone company to put it in.
the road i drive in and out on isnt a real road but just the track made by driving over it so many times. when it rains (it is the desert so its less than 20 days a year of rain) it muds up and gets very slippery.
in dry years the fire danger is extreme. trees and branches fall quite frequently. the chances of the police being able to get her in time to save me from a crazed killer are only a bit higher than the chances of getting killed by a meteorite.
but its quiet. i can run out to the car in my undies to grab something i forgot. i see wild animals every day. my house is much cooler in the summer because its shaded by so many trees. its nice.

Ok, I understand that you are having your life far away from 'civilization'.
But still, why are you afraid for a killer? I think odds are much higer to meet one in the city than in front of your house.

oh its just a phrase. if i was seriously afraid of a killer, i wouldnt live here.
at the same time, when my sister in law and her boyfriend lived nearby THEY were intensely concerned about security and kept the gate locked, patrolled the property to make sure no "bad guys" showed up and had some serious weaponry.
it was annoying but at least they kept the skunk population down. (they would shoot them while on patrol)
