Somewhere high in the desert,
Near a curtain of blue,
St Anne's skirts are billowing
But down here in the city of limelight,
The fans of Santa Ana are withering
And you can't deny the living is easy
If you never look behind the scenery
It's show time for dry climes
Bedlam is dreaming of rain

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

This is not a test
Of the emergency broadcast system
When Malibu fires and radio towers
Conspire to dance again
And I cannot believe the Meda Mecca
They're only trying to peddle reality
Catch it on Prime Time
Story at nine
The whole world is going insane

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

A placard reads "the end of days"
Jacaranda boughs are bending in the haze
More a question than a curse
How could hell be any worse?
The flames are stunning
The cameras running
So take warning!

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the murder wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

Life imitates Art?

Although the OP doesn't take it that way, this is a serious issue.

San Diego is burning as well.

I have been evacuated from my home (along with over 500,000 other San Diegans).

Luckily, my ex-wife had room for me and my cats to stay for now.

Okay, you can go back to rocking out.
Cannot think of a name

You know whats sad? I actually read this and thought for a fraction of a second, "The Cat-Tribe has a lot of cats?"

Yeah...I rock.

I hope your home is still there when you get back. Fire is so random ...

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure it was safe as the fire doesn't really appear to have approached my neighborhood. They've been pretty aggressive with the evacuations.

Maybe that's why I felt that it's worth a topic here?

No insult intended. I like the thread and I think your take was funny.

Oh, none taken. ;)

I only know from hear-say about the fires which ravaged my home county over here in August 1975 (I was born more than a year later but grew up with the new plantations around - and since then we've always had very good volunteer fire departments.

Hope you and your loved ones are fine.

Glad to hear you're safe - they do seem to be good at evacuating round here.
