Badger Cull

Yesterday in the news i heard that there is a high risk that a Badger Cull is on its way i was furious to hear that they were going to go out and kill 80% of the Badger Population because of TB that disease that is spreading through farms killing many Cattle.

But how do they know that Badgers are to blame i heard that they are not positive that Badgers are to blame my solution do more research into the TB disease and try and find the source in the mean time. The source could be anything it could be Field Mice, Rats, Birds taking shelter in the Sheds.

I know what i think but what do you think.

Don't you know ANYTHING about politics? Politicians don't give a damn about facts. They know the voters want a solution and they've provided. Facts just get in the way of their votes. So what is a few badgers get slaughtered? They were gay Muslims out to destroy the world! ;)

They want to cull badgers because it's basically a farming belief that badgers cause TB in cattle. Some research was taken into the matter, which showed that rates of TB were about the same regardless of a cull.

But there you go, the farming community doesn't like change, especially that coming from city-based scientists, which I suppose isn't too surprising, it's just a bit sad that badgers get killed because of that.

its all that time badges spend breathing on cows. they have to be the culprit.

here in new mexico a few years back some environmentalist group got too much power in the BLM and had bunches of grazing contracts abruptly cancelled. why? they had done a survey of song birds and had found that COWBIRDS were a serious problem (cowbirds, like cuckoos, lay their eggs in the nests of other birds). so they decided that they had to remove COWS from the affected areas.

When I saw the thread title my first thought was of some sort of genocide against Wisconsin. Of course, this made me scared that I may have to resort to buying trashy Californian cheddar, a terrifying prospect I'm sure you'll agree.

This isn't being done by politicians, this is being done by farmers, and it's their choice.

These birds feed on insects, including the large numbers that may be stirred up by cattle. In order for the birds to remain mobile and stay with the herd, they have adapted by laying their eggs in other birds' nests.

And so, there is a reason to remove cows, as cows are cattle, they stir up insects and therefore, the cowbirds, liking the insects, go and eat these insects, thus staying near the cattle.

Remove the cattle and the cowbirds will go elsewhere.

We should just detach Chicago from Illinois and it can just attach itself to WI. Kind of like a parasite. It's done nothing but suck the life-blood from this state.

But they can put a ban on the cull or they can permit it to go ahead.

Erm I do, and I explained why also ;)

No, they can't, because that'd involve setting a new law banning it, which would take bloody months to get through, especially since it's the kind of thing that the House of Lords would delay to hell because they don't want to piss off the farmers that rent their estates.

Can we not just train them to eat people and release them in the alleyways of Basra like we used to?

i'm sure that will be handled - chicagoans would have to leave at least a few cheese people around to run the interstate exit-based cheese emporiums.

Oh they better not show up at our University.

We have loads of badgers here and they are part of the university so much so that a Badger is our College mascot.

I won't be impressed till one of the badgers gets an honorary doctorate.
