Ok, firstly sorry about the two threads, my computer glitched halfway through the first thread and it was posted prematurely.

Anyway. I know i missed a lot of characters and i know a lot of people wont be happy about the characters i missed. Firstly i missed all the characters before FF7, from FF 10-2, FF11 and FF12. This is because before FF7 the games had little western popularity, and for many of us this was our first game. FF10-2 isnt a reall FF game if you ask me and many of its characters are in FF10. FF11 hardly left Japan, while i personally felt that FF12 greatly lacked the feel and individuality of the characters that the other games had.

Then from the remaining 4 games i tried to pick 10 characters from something like sixty. I did my best to provide a spread of characters, while not favouring my personal favourite games and not leaving out the female characters. So start polling.

Gogo, whatever it is.

In fact "Who or What is Gogo?" is one of the things Final Fantasy VI fans tend to discuss heavily on forums.

Methinks the OP fails at making polls.

I don't know the sales figures, but I would have to disagree with that. Yeah FF7 helped push RPG's in general into the mainstream, but I wouldn't say the ones before 7 had little popularity.

FF10-2 isnt a reall FF game if you ask me and many of its characters are in FF10.

Made buy SE, Final Fantasy in the title....yea it was real. sucked, but it was real.

FF11 hardly left Japan

Really? the MMORPG was a flop outside of japan? I really don't think so.

while i personally felt that FF12 greatly lacked the feel and individuality of the characters that the other games had.

I liked it. hated the gambit system and the fact you had to train yourself to wear a hat, but it wasn't bad.

I vote...wait...there is no poll as I am typing O-o

Hmmm... too many choices...

Celes, Terra, Tifa, Quistis, Lulu, Paine...

but in all the FF games... I always look for Biggs, Wedge and Cid. :)

oh and FF11 is ON-LINE only. FF12 uses the same engine and interface as FF11.

the First Final Fantasy was generic characters, you choose the class and you name the characters.

FF2 (http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/ff2characters.shtml)

FF3 (http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/ff3characters.shtml)

FF4 (http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/ff4characters.shtml)

FF5 (http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/ff5characters.shtml)

oh what the heck... here (http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/chara.shtml)... Enjoy. :p

and FFX-2 is the only TRUE SEQUAL of the Final Fantasy Game.

General Leo (he kicked so much ass)
Kefka. How can one not love Kefka. Sure, he was evil, but he was funny and had personality. At the time, almost all main villains were "me evil. Me smash you. Me kill all." and hardly did ANYTHING during the game. Kefka was different. He was cowardly. He was funny. He was powerhungry because he was mad (crazy mad, not angry mad.), which gave him motivation. He was doing evil since the beginning. You saw him poison the water supply, killing almost every man, woman, and child inside a castle to ensure a quick victory. He murdered his superior (General Leo) because he didn't let anyone get in his way. He even through his partner (the emperor) off a cliff because he (Kefka) was impatient.

Kefka kicked so much ass and who can forget his quotes.

Kefka: Wait they say. What do I look like? A waiter?

Among the antagonists, Kefka (FFVI). Among the protagonists, Squall (FFVIII) - best personality ever. So bloody annoying that the other characters keep scheming behind his back to get him into a relationship. Bloody social morons. ;)

As for the rest, the FFVI characters in general are pretty good. FFVII's so-so - not all that interesting. And FFVIII's are rather variably arsed. FFIX's characters are largely half-arsed (and they went over the top with all those anthropomorphic animal people - makes the fantasy world harder to really emerge yourself into). Not much of an opinion on the ones in the newest FFs - I have only watched them played for a bit and found the overall feel pretty uninteresting (far less engaging than the fantasy worlds of the classics. they went downhill in increasing scale since FFVI in that regard), and so haven't come to play them as of yet.
