So, fairly simple thread. Do NSG'ers play instruments? (Belly drumming does not count). Or did you and gave up/failed miserably? Or want to play something but are too lazy?
I play the Bb Bass Clarinet, awesome instrument when it doesn't break.

I play flute, bass guitar, sax, clarinet, guitar and piano. I failed miserably at learning the didgeridoo. I want to learn the violin, but I'm conviced I'll sound like a dying cat.

I play a little bass.
Harmonica, which I refuse to refer to as a 'harp', no matter how good I get.

violin, viola, cello, guitar (acoustic, electric and bass), clarinet, alto sax, recorder :p, zither :p:p, piano, organ, pipe organ, drums, xylophone, hand bells, and....trombone.
I suck ass at the trombone.

I played violin for a little while during elementary school, but I stopped because I never got to take the "wheel" class in 6th grade.

I can belch. I tried to play piano for a few years. I had wanted to play guitar, but those parents of mine... Still do actually, not enough time however. I can't sing either, which is odd seeing as I front a band. I probably shouldn't be let out near music and such related devices.

What about table-drumming?

Piano. *nod*
...
*is shamefully un-diverse* :(
I learned how to/at this point probably have forgotten how to play the clarinet.
I wish I had/still want to develop my voice (our own built-in musical instrument) further. I'm certain I could become a bad-ass death metal singer like that guy from Neurosis.

I play a little piano, like any other English schoolgirl. Perhaps better than some, but not well.

I tried guitar in my teens. I was awful, I couldn't reach all the strings to make chords and my teacher didn't want to adapt the method. So I just gave up after awhile and sold my guitars.
I'd love to learn cello but I'd have the same issues as I had with guitar. I'm missing a fingertip on my left hand. I could conceivably learn to chord right-handed, but that would make it twice as hard. I'd have to reclaim the ambidexterity I was born with, at the same time as learning to play. :headbang: Still...I guess if Tony Iommi and Jerry Garcia did it, I can too. Maybe if I find a super-patient and inventive cello teacher who can teach me alternate chording technique I could do it.
I tried hand-drumming. Couldn't carry a beat for more than a minute, I got lost.
Right now...I can play the conch trumpet. Real simple, only two or three notes, rudimentary rhythm skills and fingering doesn't come into it. Learning the glass harmonium and pan pipes would be cool, too.

I don't play any instrument anymore, and am pretty much out of practice with any I've played with in the past. But I have known how to play the piano (up to Gr. 10 level), violin, and trumpet (barely).

Saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, a little drums, a little banjo, a little bass guitar, a very little guitar, and a range of air instruments, from the ever-popular air guitar to the exquisitely rare air glockenspiel.
And I can hambone a little. But what red-blooded American can't? None, I tell you. Only godless Commies hate the hambone.

I play bass (upright and guitar) and I can plunk a few notes on the piano, though I've always wanted to take lessons.
I played viola for a year, cello for a year and a half, and the baritone for about two weeks.

Sax. Was a music major up until I reached upper division classes where I took a hard turn to film.

Piano, but I am seriously out of practice. I can only play by ear now. I have to relearn note recognition. :(
