Hey everybody!!!

Since you all are interested in real world simulation, why not try the stock market as well? Thotmarket.com is a free (and non-email requiring) website that mimics the stock market. The coolest thing, you can my make stock in whatever you want. You, your sister, your nation, cheese!!! Whatever you think people will buy, you can make and sell. I just made a general nation states stock (Ticker: NSTS) so come and join.

How long did it take to make that kind of fortune? a little over 4 minutes, actually. Started with about $3000 on my second day on the site, and parlayed that to around 11 million in a matter of minutes.

Incidentally, I posted that I had $14 million about 1.25 hours ago. It just popped up to $49,103,640. All legit, this time.

NSG is selling lots of small increments from many players, and is giving a penny dividend just about every hour. Most of the others have been snapped up in massive one-shot purchases. The prices continue to climb, but they're not paying out a dividend very often, if at all.

If you're a small investor, buying small lots of multiple investments seems to help everyone. "A rising tide raises all boats," as the saying goes. Also, lower priced and newer issues seem to get more attention. We've only been doing this for a couple of days, so it's hard to establish trends ... but I'd aim towards IPOs. If you do, make sure that you provision additional shares - and keep your majority position, unless you want some rich asshole (like me) stealing it from you.

i've been wondering that, too. stocks are confusing.
more demand leads to....falling prices.....?

or is there continually more stock being released by fris? that would explain it, maybe...

I have some of those as well. The dividend rate is not bad and at a good cost. Was hoping they would release some more stock on this one.

yeah i'd buy more of that. dividends are low but often

Guys, guys ... c'mon, that one's elementary stock performance.

Dividends don't spring up from the ground. They're paid out of company coffers, which reduces the company's value by that amount. So NSG goes from .05 to .08, then pays a .01 dividend while immediately dropping to .07. Sometimes it pays a dividend without having climbed, which makes reinvesting your dividends even cheaper.

As of this instant, NSG has paid out .07 per share since the IPO. That means it's doing damn well. As for the rest of them:
NSTS - .07
NSUN - .05
The rest of them have just grown in value. It would be nice if people would pick up some of the others too.

Oh yeah, another IPO:

My secret was those one cent stocks on the active list. I invested every dime I had in them anytime they offered new stock, which was 2-4 times a day. They pay a .01 dividend every 1-2 hours, which means you double your investment that quickly.

WOOTCOM (2,919,297,167 shares)
DGG (14,993,731 shares)
HBO (3,149,403,432 shares)
THEUK is another of those, but the owner never adds any new stock. I sold my original 10,000 and put it into DGG early on.

That's one strategy. The thing is, these two cent stocks are incredibly cheap to anyone who's been here a few days. If somebody is scouting the Newest page and grabbing anything promising, you could miss out on your buyback, even in a matter of seconds. Gotta be careful, as people getting huge dividends can buy your whole portfolio with pocket change. This is my second day, and I'm getting about $90 million an hour. Your $1000 account disappears pretty quick if you're not careful.

Another would be to put out a large IPO, but keep 90% or so for yourself. As the price goes up, sell some. Trouble is, you get hit by Capital Gains taxes if you do that.

A note to anyone with frozen stock - if you just sit on it, it will drop in value until it expires. Either release some new shares, sell some of your shares, or work out a deal with somebody richer to take ownership until you can get some decent funds built up. Frozen = Dead in this market.

Based on my banking history, the three NS issues that are reliably paying dividends are NSNET, JG, and NSG. They're not paying every time like the penny stocks, but they're at least every other time. Plus, you're investing in NationStates.

I think we could get the same performance out of PACIFIC, TNP, TSP, TEP, and TWP, if people would buy a few. All are cheap and underperforming in market cap. Plenty of shares, and they'll keep working for us as long as we keep interested in Thotmarket. We're also getting quite a bit of outside investment (unless you guys are richer than I thought) and all that publicity for the site can't hurt.

So I don't quite fully understand how dividends are calculated.

The stocks you seem to want that pay dividends frequently are the low or even high priced stocks that have a huge growth number behind them. You see a lot with 0.00 or 0.01 however check the ones that say +3456869607.90 or some crazy number like that. They are the ones that pay the div's on a regular basis. NSNET is one of them at .11 that will pay .01.

I have also found you can drive your stock price up by having a large capitalization rate vs how many shares you have out. I am experimenting but it seems if you had the majority of shares out there in public hands the higher the capitalization rate thus higher the stock will go. Ideal situation I suppose would be to have the most you could have out publicly without someone taking over. What happens is when someone takes over a stock it will change the dynamics of it. I took over Myspace stock and figured out that it no longer paid dividends rather climbed in price. With me taking it over it changed the underlying dynamic of the stock. I sold some off and lost control of it. Now it is back to making a regular dividend.

Compare NSNET with NSTS. I own a majority position in both (yeah, I took over the one that started us on this quest), yet they are very different. Still, both pay regular dividends and have those large number growth rates.

NSTS is at $0.03 right now if you want a bargain.

NSTS is at $0.03 because it capitalization rate is low vs shares outstanding. However with the high number of stocks unsold it seems to have transfered it's growth into dividends. Maybe some experimenting will find the exact formula for div's vs stock growth.

Edit: It just changed fundamentals again. Stock rose vs paying div's. So it may not pay out on a regular basis now.

Not sure but it looks like it should continue to pay out as long as the stock keeps its current situation. When you see the high growth rate number disappear that is when it probably will stop paying dividends. It just recently looks like its underlying fundamental has changed. Maybe a large stock infusion but Frisby would know because he has control.

Edit: It changed to growth instead of dividends. Watch it and it may change again.

NSTS is at $0.03 because it capitalization rate is low vs shares outstanding.

It's low because the prior owner watched as it got lots of activity, which means dividendss. It didn't grow in price because he couldn't afford to capitalize it, and it dropped a penny each div cycle with no chance to grow. We don't exactly have a long baseline on which to base historical trends, so of course this is best guess, but it matches the behavior of real financial markets.

I tossed in a few million dollars a few hours ago and brought it up to par with the rest of the major NS stocks. It's been paying out regularly (i.e. every cycle) all day, including since I built it up.

The thing is that it is not telling you how often that dividend is paid. As far as I can tell the penny stocks that pay dividends are your best bet. As for the actual dividend rate it depends on a lot of factors that I have figured out but don't know 100%. So best bets right now are go with penny stocks with a growth number that is high. Your best odds are with those for dividends.

very true... the high dividend stocks i've invested in have yet to actually pay a dividend :(
the penny stocks with high growth numbers are paying out much more regularly

however the penny stocks (with high growth numbers) also seem to nearly always be sold out (such as HBO, THEUK, NSTS, MYSPACE, etc)

Every NS-themed stock that I don't presently own is currently Frozen. Check your accounts and do something about it, please.

4 more minutes until some dividends should start pouring in....

... and NSTS didn't pay out. Damn it, I thought it paid out each turn. I'm gonna get $80,000 from it. -_-

Remember that was the "last" dividend.

very true... the high dividend stocks i've invested in have yet to actually pay a dividend :(
the penny stocks with high growth numbers are paying out much more regularly

Don't buy MySpace I just killed that stock because the current manager can't keep it paying out a dividend. Bad CFO.....

You do get a return on that purchase, allowing you to issue or sell new stock. I'm just trying to help you guys out by feeding you some bucks.

Yes, but you're now the controlling shareholder- ya got there before I could buy more of my own stock! Thanks for the cash, though.

I've no idea what I'm doing, but I just invested nearly all my start-up in NSG.

So, what's an IPO? A dividend? And other such confusing words.

Skinny buy into either the NSTS or JSPF nation state stocks because they both are paying dividends and are controlled by NSTS(Fris), JSPF(me). NSTS is cheaper and has many shares still avail. JSPF has 13k shares avail at time of this post.

IPO: Initial Public Offering
Dividend: A sometimes regular payment per stock from a company.
