Masochists would be lumped into the section of Hell that's been redecorated to resemble Care Bear Land, where everything is padded and nobody feels any pain.

Hell is only about eternal fire and torment if that's what you're afraid of. If you thrive on pain, Hell won't give you any. Hell is a state of mind.

It wouldn't be hell if you enjoyed it.

However, I don't believe that anyone goes to hell, if it does exist.

er...maybe they all go to heaven, only it wouldn't be like heaven for them so they make do by being errand boys all day filling in filthy tasks and making heaven the place it is

I wonder what masochist tea tastes like?

Of course people go to hell. Only those who believe in it though. There's a special part for those who believe in Hell solely because they'll go to Hell if they don't.

The question was assuming that Hell actually does exist, and that it's a painful experience. I thought that was fairly obvious, but I guess not.

Fire and Brimstone? probably not, after all, there will be a point where pleasure will turn into pain. and there will be no safety word...

You are on NSG my friend, where the "fairly obvious" is almost entirely indistinguishable from the "abjectly obscure". And if it isn't, there are a lot of folks here who live to help it become so!

To a point, I don't know anyone who wants to be with people every last second of their lives...and some people are bad enough in small doses.

But hell being other people isn't my opinion, I just couldn't find the door.

Smurfey's Law?

1. Every level of hell includes at least a solitary smurf.
2. The amount of smurfs increases exponentially by a factor of pain.
3. Smurfs turn blue when they asphyxiate. No really.

Philosophers are weird like that. "Oh, I said this, but I REALLY meant the opposite. You're just too sublunary to know that. I bet you're so sublunary that you don't every know what sublunary means!" Or something to that effect.

"belonging to this world as contrasted with a better or more spiritual one" is how my dictionary defined it. It's from modern latin, and my theory is that it came from Aristotle's whole thing about different levels and stuff.

As a masochist, I'll answer this.
In short, no.
In long, masochists enjoy stinging pain, which after some warm up can move a bit harder. Masochists do not enjoy having hot pokers stabbed through their intestines. And I've heard of few versions of hell that are run by hot women in black leather wielding bullwhips and floggers...
OK, I have heard of a few...
