In the interest of balance, and to show that Republicans aren't the only political party in the United States capable of Macaca Moments...

And that was just the outburst from insinuating that NASCAR fans are walking biowarfare labs. Imagine what could have happened if the official suggested sending geneologists and geneticists to Talladega instead.

Yeah I don't really know what they were thinking sending that e-mail around. Maybe if they were visiting a leper colony in India but not a NASCAR event. Seems more like a bit of stereotyping and racism by those responsible.
The irony being that most of the areas where NASCAR races are held are actually more prosperous than the US average... I'd get those vaccinations going in to Detroit or Washington D.C. long before I'd consider getting them in Virginia or North Carolina.
No offense to the Democrats, but some of their constituencies could pass as the Soviet Union in 1991...

Well, there are over 170,000 people in attendance, many of them coming in in RVs camping in the middle of the track, and they were visiting health facilities...I've been to NASCAR events and felt like getting shots afterward.
But yeah, bum move. The fact that he didn't actually say anything about the crowd or the track, in fact just said to get standard immunizations will be completely lost in the rhetoric. The Republicans will spin this as Democrats think you're (NASCAR fans will become "common folk") unwashed masses. Howard Dean's work on NASCAR dads, gone.
Stupid move that will be blown stupider by the noise machine. Ah well...
In the days leading up to the Bank of America 500, Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue held a political reception near the track's Turn 4.
That might explain why turn 4 seemed cursed...

It doesn't matter.
Repugs & Dumbs are both imperial corporate war parties of the oligarchy (http://covertaction.org//content/view/13/41/).
As far as Nascar, not for me.
But people I've known (not real well) grew up to race at small, local tracks.
Who knows what they're doing now?
Also these small tracks could provide a social event that probably beats watching television by oneself at home.
I've been to a tracker pull before. People hang out and drink and mingle.
This type of event is not really for me, but it probably beats staying at home and watching television.
I got crabs from Jeff Gordon.
It's unfortunate the public had to find out the truth about NASCAR fans in this manner.
