Are you right brained or left brained (http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22535838-5012895,00.html). I saw this yesterday and I was right brained today I seem to be left brained. I guess I use a different side of my brain on different days.

What kind of a sick trick is this?
It is quite obvious that the figure turns just under half a minute clockwise and then just under half a minute anti-clockwise -- and they say you can only see it turning to one side?
Bunch of crap.

It only turns clockwise for me.

It only turns clockwise for me.
Now you are kidding, right? It changes direction at very regular intervals of 26 seconds or so.

No, only clockwise for me. It's the first time it's ever been suggested that I'm right brained.
EDIT: But it changes sides for my mum.

The idea of "left brained" or "right brained" is a gross oversimplification. Yes, it is true that certain functions seem to be localized to the left or right side of the brain, however, the division and location can vary widely. And everybody uses both sides all of the time; unless one has had a complete hemispherectomy, there ain't no such thing as "left brained" or "right brained."
Which is why, with a little effort, I can switch between "clockwise" and "anti-clockwise" at will. Clearly, the correct answer to the question "are you right brained or left brained" is "yes." ;)
edit: the trick is to observe the figure's shadow. As it rotates, the shadow of the center foot is rendered in such as way that one can reasonably conclude that it is rotating either clockwise or anti-clockwise. Make a conscious decision as to which is occurring, et viola, the rest of the figure follows suit. I think this can be done because the shadow foot lacks the same sort of 3D depth that the main figure has.
edit again: I just tried covering up the shadow so that I can't see it, focusing directly on the center foot of the main figure. I can still accomplish switching at will, although it is slightly more difficult because of the 3D depth provided by the rest of the figure being more of a distraction.

i can make it change direction at will with a little concentration. but it was spinning clockwise initially both times i've opened the link.

you must be right-brained. why? Because a left-brained individual would have used logic-and-strategic-oriented brain and checked first to see if there was a thread already about this before posting.
A right-brained person would not, as they're very impetuous.

Sorry, my bad. I assumed that if it was on par with an elephant in mass, it would on par with an elephant in other characteristics as well. 'specially the prehensile part.
