If you did this would you admit it or hide under you pillow?

Chances are a six year old is going to be denying the whole thing but they should just admit it and they won't get in as much trouble. Even still beat their ass for touching the car.

So, the six year old wakes up hungry and decides to go out for chicken nuggets. He backs into a pole and knocks out power. Then he runs into the house and wakes up his grandmother to tell her what he did.

Muuum. Should he have run back into the house and hid under a pillow then denied everything? Should he have walked to the store, got the chicken, and denied everything if confronted? Should he have run away from home?

What would you have done?

He 'fessed up? Good job on the parenting! Bad job on keeping the car keys out of reach, but on the other hand, if the kid has not tried this trick before, how could anyone guess that he would do it this time.

I probably would have confessed too. Kind of hard to hide a power outage.

I would have confessed, but done my best to imply that someone else was the culprit, such as a space alien or my overweight, terminally insecure neighbour Freddie.

I would have claimed it was my brother (although this kid maybe didn't have a brother)

btw - how did he reach the gas? How long are this kid's legs?

If I did this, my ass would have had a visit from Mr. Belt. I wouldn't be going out the next day. My ass would be too sore and possibly bloody. Sure, spanking might not be as effective as advertised, but alternatives could be much worse. Prison doesn't fix people. It makes people even bigger criminals. Now, corporal punishment. That's something a kid is going to remember. The damage might have only taken months to repair and the power might have been out for only a couple hours or days, but the memory of that visit from Mr. Belt will last a lifetime.

Grandma, Grandma, I was driving your car and I hit something
Love that quote. Probably not the words you'd want to be woken up with by your 6 year old grandson.

Me now? Let them know that I am hungry. If they want to hit me let them know it's their fault for not feeding me enough, that they caused this to happen because they are irresponsible parents. It will either put them in enough shame that they won't hit me or at least it will hurt them as much as they will hurt me.

Me at age of 6? I don't know cry? Certainly no explanation is going to save me from an old fashion beating. They will blame me for whatever it is that broke in the house anyway.

No, no ... you're missing the word that goes in between.

Not "hand", "pork", "Buddha's Delight", or even WYTYG ... hmmm, gotta think about that a sec - no, the word i already provided!

I'd totally deny it as much as I could (who would suspect a 6-year-old of something like this anyway), and if I got caught I'd blame my stupid grandmother for sleeping and allowing me to drive a car rather than feeding me. (I'm not saying "allowing" to mean that she let him, I'm saying that her inattentiveness made driving the vehicle possible).
