I'm being forced to get my permit tomorrow and being lazy, I haven't studied and have just taken the sample test online.

I got a 52% naturally. :(

I do wonder, would you silly people pass the test?

21. Safety belts should be worn:

a) only when driving at higher speeds
b) loosely on your lap
c) only when riding in the front seat
d) at all times?as a driver and as a passenger

Why a question mark? don't they know?

oh and 92%

92% - missed the one where the rule here differs from the one in the USA and the one with non-ABS breaks because I've gotten mixed messages about those vis-à-vis pumping or not. I don't own a non-ABS car, so meh.

92% - I slowed down and looked and in retrospect I understand why that slowing down isn't necessarily best. But it's an honest mistake.

And they changed one on me, because I'm pretty sure when I was youngin' it was 2 seconds not 3 seconds.

Steering in a skid also depends on front wheel or real wheel drive. Non-ABS used to be pumping.

Pumping is only if you press too hard and the brakes lock up. There was an option for 'don't lock your brakes up' which eliminated pumping as an option (since, again, that's what you do when you lock the brakes up). But it is a tricky question, because it is something you do without ABS, but only if you lock 'em up.

Whats up with that? ABS was a mere novelty when I was learning to drive...do cars stop worse now or something? What gives?

And NO ONE even follows the 2 second rule. If I leave 2 seconds some yayhoo will fill that gap.

In my split window I actually give a lot of space, because she, uh, doesn't stop that well. Fortunately she doesn't travel that fast either.

Don't tell that to my driving instructor. She's taught us that whenever you don't have ABS you should pump the breaks while slowing on bad roads to prevent locking them.

Wow, dude...seriously, don't listen to her. You'll be shifting weight on and off your tires which means essentially jumping the amount of traction your car will have which in turn might cause your car to jump or drift from side to side. It should be even pressure unless you lock them up then let up and press again.

Steering in a skid also depends on front wheel or real wheel drive. Non-ABS used to be pumping. Most people sucked so bad at pumping that they changed it. Advances in brake technology helped too.

Here work zones always have a lower speed limit than the roadway would have, so I selected "drive the posted speed limit and look for the roadwork," which is apparently not the case in teh USA. WTF do you do down south? Speed through work zones?

I'll admit I guessed on the shoulder question. While some places have shoulders, where I am there aren't (at least ones wide enough to get your car on).

Up here you cannot cross a double yellow line to turn into a driveway, so I got that wrong.

Up here you are encouraged to back up with both hands on the wheel, not everyone can however.

The foggy weather question got me. What are low beams? We have "high beam" > "lights on" > "lights off" (the quotes are because all three positions have some light shining). We share the same car market, so do you just call "lights off" low beams? Either way, here it is the middle option.

60%.

#3) I was taught the 2 second rule during Drivers Ed.
#4) In Tennessee (where I live), if a car is stopped waiting to make a left turn across traffic, it is legal to pass them on the right shoulder, as long as there is enough space so that you don't go off the road.
#8) Wouldn't know, never driven a car without ABS.
#13) If your wheel is turned to the left and your car started to slide downhill, wouldn't that cause your car to roll into the street?
#24) I don't have 'low beams' on my car. There's off, on, and high.

The rest were bad guesses. But if I had proper credit for those, I'd have an 80%.

#13) You turn the wheels facing into the street. When the car starts to roll downhill, the front end will swing right and the front passenger wheel will hit the curb. The rear end will essentially be in the same place.

I don't have to worry about it. My car has ABS. In fact, my dad just sold the last car in our family that didn't have ABS for one that does. I'll keep it in mind though in case I do end up driving a non-ABS car.
