At least one of those people died long before the title or the position of "pope" even existed.
But I think John Paul II did quite a bit for the church. He wasn't perfect, of course, but I think he did a good job overall. He reached out to other denominations and people of other faiths and actually tried to do some good in the world. It's really too bad that his successor seems bent on reversing most of what he did.

Oh well.
Worst Pope: Pius IX (the last Pope-King, papal "infallibility"...)
Best Pope: Paulus VI (Vatican Council II)
possibily even better, but lasted 30 days only: Iohannes Paulus I (attempting to kick the merchants out of the temple, that is, the Vatican bank IOR out of the Church)

I admire the perseverance of Benedict IX. Different people kept chasing him out of Rome, but, by God, he always came back.

He was also the youngest Pope ever (possibly just 11 when he took the reigns).

Yes, he did. With the intention of updating the Catholic Church to keep up with the times because the Church had been using the Medieval model for so long and it wasn't working as well as it used to. You know, what with it no longer being the Medieval Period.
