The stolen election

"the 1960 election that brought Kennedy to the presidency. The Democrats stole that election from Republican candidate Richard Nixon by tampering with the vote in two states. In Illinois, Mafia boss Sam Giancana arranged for 10,000 votes to be cast for John F. Kennedy "from the graveyard." In Texas, the political machine of Kennedy's running mate, Lyndon Johnson, arbitrarily disqualified about 100,000 votes.

As a result, 51 electoral votes that should have gone to Nixon went to Kennedy. Had they been added to Nixon's total, he would have squeezed into the presidency by one electoral vote."

I've heard there was foul play in the election, and I know that if JFK did win, it was probably because he was more charismatic than Nixon, not because he would make a better president (he did, but that's not the point). But I don't want to say, "Yes, your statement is true" or "No, your statement is wrong" without knowing where your statement comes from.

Just curious, how many states did Nixon rig?

Also, let us not forget the late night voting done by the Unions in Chicago who voted 3 times.

Wasn't it former Chicago mayor Richard Daley who said "Vote early, vote often"? lol :D

I truly wouldn't be surprised if vote-rigging was far more prevalent back then than it is now. I would therefore not be surprised by the above.

Does it equate to all the disenfranchised black people who would surely have voted for Kennedy?

Politics is a dirty game, always has been always will be.

I'll post my source in a bit,

It's just that this is the first time I've heard of this.
It might be totally made up.
I'd like to see if others have sources as well.
Then I can see if I should think it might be legit or not.
That is, if I can see if I can think.

Yeah...they had this on the Colbert Report a while back...and they said that Kennedy would still have won even if he hadn't cheated....

EDIT: Episode 104 of the Colbert Report originally airing June 12 2006

RFK jr was the guest...

I don't know how I remembered all that over a year later..........

More than likely so if he could have won without cheating then why cheat?

I don't know, but people do it. Nixon didn't need Watergate to win, he was heavily favored and the election wasn't even close.

True. And those who are caught cheating needs to be kicked out of whatever office they are holding.

Yea, but in Chicago, it was just the last Mayor election.

Yes I still do hate Mayor Daley in Chicago.

President Nixon's Head: I want this robot fixed. Fixed like Kennedy fixed the 1960 election. Damn bean-eating war hero!

And that's all the proof I need.

So it was a long time ago.

Some people today still think that elected officials, and maybe more so presidents, are generally honorable people.
If this was true during a supposedly simpler and more honest time,
against an opponent of the "crook" even,
then perhaps people might be more willing to take another look at things today.

here's my source of the quote in the OP
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/CIA/Who_Killed_JFK.html

for the purpose of this thread,
I'm only interested in stuff on possible cheating during that election,
and not jfk assassination stuff, even though it is obvious it was not a single person. who killed an oligarch from one wing of the ruling class does not matter that much. there is still lots of injustice done to the rest of us in our daily lives. more so if you live in a so-called "3rd world" country.

Chicago won him the election but it was for the better though. See Bush wasn't the only one who won an election that shouldn't have been to him but too many people forget about JFK and Chicago.

Sounds like Emma Goldman (attributed)

"If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal."
