SIRNAK, Turkey (AP) — Turkey said Tuesday it had begun preparations for a military operation into Iraq to chase separatist Kurdish rebels who have launched deadly attacks on soldiers in recent days.

Isn't that just nice?

Perhaps the USA should attack Turkey next as Saddam sure wasn't allowed to kill those peace loving kurds... :D

No doubt.

Turkey ethnically cleansed way more Kurds than Hussein.

Just take a look back at what the human rights groups were saying for the past
couple decades and read up on it.
It's there.
Covert Action Quarterly is one journal that was keeping record.

It was pretty bad,
the Turkish gov't even went so far as to not allow the use of the Kurdish language any where. This has changed, but it shows how much they feared the Kurdish identity. As if that alone would threaten Turkish nationalism or something weird like that. Pretty disgusting.

Everyone in the region hates group which sits about doing fuck all other than blowing the non-Kurdish citizens up, and is prepared to beat the shit out of them until they stop shocker.

Amazing.

If Turkey does do this then the US and Afghan forces have full right to chase Taliban fighters into Wazeristan, Pakistan.

Yeah, I think they could make a good case.

Turkey was poised to invade Iraq right before we came in, anyway. (Too tired to get a link.)

Not news. Turkey regularly threatens to do this, and have made numerous sweeps, incursions and outright invasions.

The irony is that Saddam was executed for atrocities against Kurdish people and the maltreatment of Iraq kurds is seen as a one of the justifications for the war in Iraq, especially among Iraq war supporters.

....while Turkey is seen by some, like GW Bush, as a strong ally and friend of the USA.

'tis a crazy world. :)

Remember Kurds have at least three conflicting armed powers, under the provision of US army. Some call it 'freedom fighters', I call them mercenaries of the local lord, sponsored by US of A - just because there's nobody else left to be allies with.

Some random guy did bad things. So now the US can do bad things to other random people.

Oddly, the most stable part of Iraq is the Kurdish area so this is not going to help.

Yeah, Türk, come on, make my day: kiss your visa to Europe goodbye!

If the turks attack, my group both here in Regione Lombardia Council AND in the EU Parliament will call for a resolution blocking the Turkish EU-entrance path.

Let's see: at the EU parliament, the GUE/NGL (left) will support the kurds, the eurosceptics will vote against any EU enlargement, the christian conservatives will vote against the pro-islamic cabinet of Turkey... I guess that this will do.

I wonder if the Turks will be so stupid to destroy their EU chances for good. I love a good political blackmail.

With the crap like that one can't wonder WHY the Kurds want to seceed from Turkey.

Everyone in the region hates group which sits about doing fuck all other than blowing the non-Kurdish citizens up, and is prepared to beat the shit out of them until they stop shocker.
Amazing. But EVERY group there blows each other up. Why pick on just one of them. Wait... It's the fact that it's not Israel that makes it wrong.

Everyone bitches constantly about the Palestinans deserving a nation yet the Kurds are always left to rot.

What a surprise, someone is trying to kill the Kurds. What are they, the Polish of the Middle East.:p

Sorry couldn't help myself. But really, nobody is really at fault because the Kurds have a habit of fighting the gov. they are under and the gov. they are under tends to be insane/dictatorship.

Yes they basicly are the Polish of the Middle East.

Someone just make province of part of Turkey call it Kurdistan and leave them alone. Do like the Kurdistan in Northern Iraq.

It's really Kurdistan... But we call it North Iraq.
