im pretty sure that this is the only time you will hear a republican say something good about unions--the debate was in detroit.

the economy is the republicans strong point, i wasnt horrified by any of the answers like i was in other republican debates. i dont agree with their answers for the most part but at least they arent creepy opinions.

our governor has it and can cross out lines of a budget,

Not necessarily, US is declining, I think London can take it over, particularly as EU becomes closer and more powerful, with London at its head.

The mayor of New York has warned that his city is in danger of losing its title as the world's financial capital because Britain's less onerous regulatory, legal and immigration regimes are turning London into a superior place to do business.

McKinsey [consultancy firm] found that London is beating New York in job creation. Between 2002 and 2005, London's financial workforce grew by 4.3% to 318,000 while New York's declined by 0.7% to 328,400 jobs. Over the last four years, the value of the shares, bonds, loans and deposits traded in Britain has risen by 8.4%, while America has only managed a 6.5% increase and London is pulling in an increasing share of hedge funds.

I'm living in America *looks around, no one is around* (no I am NOT an illegal immigrant! I am legal!) but I think Americans think they are superior. This is a perfect example.

I don't think London may replace NYC as the world's economic capital-I'm looking at stock markets (but it's possible). But what are you defining economic power as? Look at Hong Kong-it probably has tons of currency coming through each day, but no major stock exchange.

EDIT: looking above, add Shanghai as well.

Purchasing parity????

The US dollar does dominate almost every other currency out there, the only exception being the Euro and the British Pound which is the only one that is more valuable than the dollar. The US dollar has more value than all other American supercontinent currencies, more value than any African or mideastern currency and more value than any far east asian currency.

Do you think a guy who orders his city's police to use high voltage cattle prods on people for the "high" crime of jaywalking could be capable of inventing things like democracy?

EDIT: My opinion is that Guiliani is the guy who invented American torture and then persuaded some people in the administration that torture was ok. After all, he was the first public official to sanction it, and that was before 9/11 and he sanctioned its use on US citizens.

Giuliani says London will never ever replace New York as the world's economic capital.

Seeing that NY replaced London as world's economic capital, London had previously replaced Paris which had replaced Florence wich had replaced Milan which had replaced Costantinople... blahblahblah I'd say that Giuliani's answer proves that his grasp of historical processes is iffy at best.

Giuliani says other countries are trying to copy America and steal American ideas like democracy and low taxes.
Democracy is an american idea? It's strange that an american idea has a Greek name that was already written in texts dating at least 2100 years before the American Independence War. Maybe he meant "Republic"... oh wait, 2000 years before the American Independence War Rome called his administration the "Res Publica"... maybe he meant that American is the oldest still-standing republic, and clearly there was no-one there who ever heard of Switzerland or San Marino...

Guiliani says, America is the world's only hope.
Leia Organa says, "help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope". Turns out that there were at least three other Jedis or Jedi-candidates left (Y.O.D.A., Luke and Leia herself) and that it was Vader in the end who killed the Emperor and saved the day... Analogies?

I love when candidates say idiocies just for the sake of propaganda.

Probably...the Euro didn't exist in the late 90's, as it was introduced in 2002 ;)

It was intended to have a 1-1 exchange course on introduction. Initially the Euro dropped to something like $0.80, but then steadily increased to what it is now.

And it's going to increase more.

1.the Federal Reserve wants to keep the US$ low because of the huge US debt - it will be easier to repay at least part of it if the $ keeps low.
2.the US cabinet wants to keep the US$ low because this benefits exports.
3.the European Central Bank pursues a rigid low-debt, high-euro policy, similar to the old monetary policy of the UK.
4.most EU governments want high euro because it's better when buying oil and natural gas.

Actually, I said I had confused the Euro with the Pound and he had said that neither one had reached the $2 mark.

The links prove him wrong because the pound did reach the 2 dollar mark, hence, he was either misinformed or lying.
