This thread will be rife with arm strain as people congratulate themselves on how little TV they watch.
I'll start with that...
The only reason I like Reality TV is because it pays the bills. And commercials do a better job of that, so...
Though science based or building shit reality shows are kinda cool. Just not pretty shallow people competing in a thin premise.
I don't like procedural shows. Actually, I'd like them better if they were reality shows...then it'd be a procedure that actually happened instead of rotating whatever part of the chain into the primary investigator role. (What's weird is it got less ridiculous, time was motorcylce cops and coroners solved crimes...now it's crime scene investigators, at least makes a little more sense...)
But super doctors, super cops...not that interesting to me.
There is an aesthetic change in sitcoms that I like, I believe it started with SportsNight. It's ultimately a return to single camera location based filming and the final death of the laugh track. A flexible premise is nice, room to develop characters. The comedian formula is no good (He's a charming idiot, his wife is together, she has a friend that he doesn't get along with, he has a sidekick that initially doesn't get along with the friend either but then they hook up or some other kind of nonsense. There should be a weathered old comic on the circuit that warns up and coming comedians to avoid this formula when offered a sitcom. Sienfeld might have only been such a phenomenon because it avoided it...)
I like the new macro-series, dramas (or sometimes comedies) that have a long arc with a conclusion/goal of sorts instead of stand alone episodes only tied by premise or characters. I don't watch all of them, or even most of them (I don't watch 24, Lost, Prison Break etc.) I do watch Battlestar Galactica and despite feeling let down Heroes. I started watching The Bionic Woman, but at this point mostly because it has like 5 cast members from Battlestar Galactica (are they trying to be the revival company players?).
Random assortment of other things.

at the moment i'm watching QI and porn, i think i've watched all of QI now and most of family guy. before that it was scrubs and before that i think spaced. i have a new found love for youporn. i didn't really like porn before, it was just a means to an end for the unimaginative (me), but youporn has it all, it's marvellous.

Strangely video porn has never been my thing. To me it seems all too artificial to be worthy of any sort of pleasure. I've even went and watched some so I could determine if I'm just not turned on by vid. porn, and it just doesn't do it for me. Static (read: image) porn does a better job. But even that has its own "fake" feeling. Maybe I'm simply not a porn person.
Note: The above post may be unintentionally awkward, and if so, I apologize. I've had this same conversation with real life friends before and when I said nearly the same as I wrote above, an awkward moment of silent ensued.

I used to really like those weird little programs they put in the early hours on BBC2 - they could be about anything really but some of them were really interesting.
There was one on the history of lifts and how much building design has been constrained by them. How much can a building be allowed for wind-sway with a lift inside.
There was one on rainbows, which led to one of my favorite 'did you knows'.
Did you know that no two people see the same rainbow?
It's obvious when you think about it but, well I suppose we never really think about it.
You missed my three favourites: Showtime original programming (Trailer Park Boys), stoner comedy (Robot Chicken), and Hockey(Hockey Night in Canada).
Documentaries are my fav. I like to learn :)

My favorite genre is the work which becomes a new genre itself.
most of the things i like to watch are news or news-related. I also like documentaries and good movies. Some humorous show can be good too. And sometimes I watch some really really stupid reality tv to remind me how stupid others can be, to feel superior and to laugh with others.
TV isn't TV without sci fi.
Yeah, where the hell is my Sci-Fi?
I like satire too, but I only watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report on that line.

bummer, i forgot about reality tv and sci-fi. i guess you can include them in gameshows and drama respectively.
Only shows I watch are, in order of preference:
Mythbusters
Heroes
Stargate Atlantis
Dr. Who

I like historical dramas- Rome and the Tudors are the two greatest shows ever made. Add to that Britcoms like Men Behaving Badly, The League of Gentlemen, Monty Pythons Flying Circus, and Black Books and thats pretty much all I watch. Oh, and Carnivale... my, what an amazing show

Well, I've given up on the Sci Fi channel for the time being. I like HGTV, TVFN and TCM.
I actually watched Rules of Engagement the other night and didn't find it funny at all.
I do like old British sit-coms like As Time Goes By and A Fine Romance.

I tends to like me my cop shops.... Homocide: Life on the Streets, Hill Street Blues, Third Watch, and that sort of thing, with the related types of stuff (Quincy, CSI, various PIs, and legal dramas) tacked on for fun.
That's followed by selected SF. (Although my SF tastes tend more towards the literary.)
Also a few selected sitcoms, various cartoons, some news programs, and varied documentaries.
