A Matter of Perception

NSG is an internet discussion board, nothing more, nothing less. Some topics can and do stir the innermost feelings of us all. Those emotions can run from seething hatred to passionate love, and every flavour in between. At least that is my perception.

I envisage posters pounding on their keyboards as they try to vent their anger, frustrations and hatred, and yet others type a few words that bring a smile to our faces. Again, that is just my perception.

There are posters here that believe that I hate them. Well, that would be their perception, because it is simply not true. While I may strongly disagree with another poster, they should not misconstrue that disagreement as hatred. If some feel that I have harmed them in some way, it certainly was not my intention, and I offer my humble apologies.

There are numerous pathways on the journey of life and I have been down many. Some will steal your soul and some will restore it. Experience has taught me to be more selective today, and when I see others going down those deadly paths, I will reach out to help if I can.

I have found that it is difficult to love and be loved when one is consumed by fear, hate, and anger. Some will learn that reality the hard way. But then again, that is just my perception.

Peace. :)

This must be the "flavour in between"? :D

Perception is also created. And when a certain person's actions constitute nothing more than mean-spirited stalking...that perception is probably pretty accurate, protestations of innocence to the contrary.

Glad you're having a spiritual reawakening or whatever it is though. Enjoy. Maybe the actions that shape perception will change.

Damn and the only 'Mexican' restaurants we have around are Taco Bells *shudders*. I guess I'll have to settle for some Salvadorean pupusas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pupusa), or some Chilean empanadas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empanadas#Chile).

it is a common myth, perpetrated by certain systems of belief, that every living self awair organizm seeks or requires love. the desire to cause suffering is however a learned behavior. and generally one that is only aquired through a great deal of traumatic experience. said trauma generally resaulting from others having been taught to hate, often as a reasult of those seeking to divide otherwise sensable people against themselves and each other, for the political advantage of devide and concor. that is what i believe to be the real origen of all prejudice. even economic and idiological as well as the more widely recognezed ethnic and so called racial.

that or having been conditioned to seek illusory personal advantages, without reguard for real consiquence to other beings or even the very same world they somehow lack the comprehension they must also themselves continue to live in.

so i AM all in favor of love. but even more in favour of the self dicipline to avoid creating the incentives for the policies that create the conditions that cause suffering, let alone causing it directly themselves.

and it IS in EVERYONE'S self intrest, to avoid creating those conditions that increase the ambient level of suffering. which i don't know why it should take rocket science for anyone to see this for themselves, without having to be told, other, perhapse, then having been conditioned, not to look.

Taco Bell can do in a pinch. But there is a bar/restaurnt that has excellent mexican food. And they have $1 tacos today. of course, they'll be packed because of football. ...

You are entitled to your perception....I have already explained mine. Perhaps your reaction to my perceptions will change? One can only hope?

Yeah...your perceptions have been that I'm an evil person, and it is your job in this life to expose me for who I really am, because only you really know who that is.

My reaction to the continuation of your ridiculous hostility will remain the same.

Mild amusement, mixed with wonder that someone can so blithely accuse others of hypocrisy whilst wallowing in it himself.

Nice OP though. Hope you actually practice what you preach.

I have never called you an "evil person", and my posting in the other thread is very well detailed. For you to suggest that it is my "job in this life to expose you", well, that is your perception.

My reaction to the continuation of your ridiculous hostility will remain the same.

When I wrote this thread, I mentioned no-one by name, certainly not you, and yet you post in this thread suggesting that it is I who is a "mean spirited stalker", and if anyone is continuing "hostility", it would appear that person would be you.

I certainly have no ill will towards you, despite our differences in perception, and I pray that you will do well in life.

In my OP, I stated the following:

I have found that it is difficult to love and be loved when one is consumed by fear, hate, and anger. Some will learn that reality the hard way. But then again, that is just my perception.
I would like to follow that up with a video that was sent to me awhile back, that graphically demonstrates that "fear, hate, and anger", are not only learned the hard way, sometimes they are learned from our role models. I thought I would share it with you. It is called "Children See. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJy3pgDjDqE)".

Sadly, the only tacos I can find are a 30 minute train ride away and come with a hot dog in them (For some reason, the Japanese seem to think that all Mexican food MUST have hot dogs in it somewhere). :(

I do believe that people require love and acceptance. It is what makes the world go round.

the desire to cause suffering is however a learned behavior. and generally one that is only aquired through a great deal of traumatic experience. said trauma generally resaulting from others having been taught to hate, often as a reasult of those seeking to divide otherwise sensable people against themselves and each other, for the political advantage of devide and concor. that is what i believe to be the real origen of all prejudice. even economic and idiological as well as the more widely recognezed ethnic and so called racial.
I concur that much of what constitutes hate, anger and prejudice is instilled in us at a very early age, as per the video I posted entitled "Children See".

I find it impossible to hate anyone I don't personally know - i.e. face to face. Even then, it's not so much hatred as it is a strong desire to avoid him/her.

Some people are comfortable with their hatred and their anger fuels the fire. Sometimes it is in their day to day speech, such as "don't you hate it when" .....

There is a slogan:

He who angers you, controls you.

I believe it to be so.

Really? It's the opposite for me. If I know someone, I know not only his or her bad side but the entire person. If I only know of someone from the newspaper or word of mouth, I know what I dislike about him, and usually assume that I dislike the rest as well. Because of that, I try to avoid claiming I hate George Bush, Republicans, racists, bigots, etc., because if I actually met one I probably wouldn't dislike them so vehemently.
