Stronger Than Steel

So, I was browsing Slashdot about five minutes ago, and noticed a rather common "New X is stronger than steel."

It seems that pretty much everything new is stronger than steel. Should we replace steel with a new benchmark of strong? Pretty much any new strong material can beat steel it seems so why use it anymore. What do you suggest we replace it with. Discuss.

Most things stronger than steel are usually a lot more expensive than steel. Also, do they mean tensile strength or hardness?

Which very strong thing?

The one that is very strong.

No, I don't know where this is going. :p

In all seriousness, 'stronger than steel' is a colloquial term meaning very strong, so there isn't really any need for it to be particularly accurate.

chevies are only "like a rock" so we can't use them.

fords are only "built ford tough" so without knowing what "ford tough" is we can't use that either....

In the name of confusing as many people as possible, let's start saying "Stronger than Bill Kazmaier."
What do you mean, "Bill who?" He won the World's Strongest Man competition three times in a row, until they asked him to quit coming.

Impossible. You could, however, rate it at millionths of the power of Chuck.

I believe high grade steel is rated at 100/1,000,000. So, something twice as strong as steel would be rated at 200/1,000,000.

Neutronium can't exist outside a very intense gravitational field. It'd explode.

Yes, but how -strongly- would it explode?

In all fairness to Kat, someone else mentioned Chuck Norris first, so the thread had already taken a nosedive into the sewer of tired unfunniness.
