The US Department of Immigration released an US Citizenship test.
It's only 25 questions long and the department can check if an immigrant is adapted enough to the American way of life.
So, check if you are a 'real' American:

We introduced a citizenship test in Australia very recently. In fact the first tests were on the weekend. Mainly asks about history, culture and values. There is a little book for people who are going to take it are supposed to read. Not sure how big the question pool is, but each test has 20 random questions and you only need 12 correct to pass. Also, you can take it again as many times as you want.
Talk about a waste of fucking money.

... Mainly asks about history, culture and values....Well, for the US that's pretty easy. History: kill'em all. Culture: none. Values: US über alles.

Bravo, we have a US flame 3 replies in. Most take longer to work out how to say "America sux and Bush is satan" and spell it correctly, that and work out the difference between a plus sign and an 'X'.

I was born in the United States, meaning I am a real American. Real as they get.
Not according to Ron Paul. He says being born here shouldn't be enough.

The high moral standards the US is constantly preaching to everyone else are in no way met by the US itself. But go on living in your Disney world.

Pfft, everyone born and/or living in the Americas is an American. Not that exclusive at all - just ask the street urchins of Caracas. You'll have to speak Spanish, though, but you will have to do that sooner or later anyway.

yeah...good luck with that. All you'd need to do is change the 14th amendment. Real easy that...

I'll make sure I don't vote for him. :)

Wrong.
More often enough, they call themselves by their nationality or as "surdeamericanos" or something similar to that.
North Americans refers to someone living in North America, most of the time either United States or Canada. American is almost always referring to someone living in or born in the United States, except for people that believe this"HAY HAY, EVERYONES AN AMERICAN"

if I remember correctly I took this tests before so I already know I'm not going to be a citizen in the US anytime soon
unless of course I just apply for the armed forces (which I think given my job history should get me in right away)

or people who passed lower/elementary/basement geography :p

Yay for stupid citizenship tests!
The one in Australia was designed by the Prime Minister and the Immigration Minister (based the design used by the UK). The stupid thing about it is even politicians have trouble answering some of the questions in it.

Speaking or (more correctly) typing from South America, you are flat wrong there. Yes we do refer to ourselves by our nationality, be it Colombiano or Brasileiro or whatever, but also as Americans. We do not refer to ourselves as "Sur Americanos" or "Sul Americanos" (depending on whether it would have been in Spanish or Portuguese)
What by the way is your nationality, not your continental affiliation?
