Abortion.

EDIT: Sorry, that's another song by them - it's about violence in Ireland.

I assumed it was talking about the violence in Ireland. The songs refers to the year 1916 which is the date of the "Easter Rising."

It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.*
In your head, in your head they're still fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying...

* This is the key line. This refers to The Easter Uprising (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Uprising) of 1916.

spooky.
Just this morning I was singing this song in my head on the way to work. First time in prob 10 years I'd even thought of it.

Dammit Rangola, get out of my head!

Its one of the more inane simplistic rants to emerge about the whole business.
Even allowing for artistice licence, its bollocks....For one thing the 1916 rising was about independence from Britain and emerged from the classic Irish indepence movement. The conflict in the north, though it claimed and had linkage to that, was far more rooted in the sectarian statelet of NI and discrimination against catholics there, than anything else.

Had not the primarily peaceful civil rights been batoned off the streets, I doubt there would have been any more militanc in northern nationalists than amongst the Scotch or Welsh. Not for Dolores any of that though, the dozy shite.....
