I found this place in a link from another link to another article I lost interest in and ended up here. I wanted to find out what the deal was so I tried to create a nation. The first half dozen or so names that I tried had already been used, and I had no intention of actually playing the game or sticking around, so I just bailed on the whole name thing so I could peek inside.

Well, I wasn't doing anything with the internet at the time, the issues amused me and some of my friends joined and created a region and so I stuck around. Then, for some dumbass reason introduced myself on the forum in a thread for newbies to introduce themselves (there where a lot of us all of a sudden because of articles like the one I read). Somehow, probably from a lack of anything else to do, I stayed.

Now-I have a nickname in real life that I use whenever I need a pseudonym. It's Walrus, and I like it because a)I didn't give it to myself b)It's not flattering so I don't feel like I'm trying to be all 'cool' (but it does occasionally make me out to be a bigger Beatle fan than I really am, and I wouldn't say I'm a fan per se).

So why didn't I try Walrustan, or Walrustopia, or a Walrusania?

Because it's not worth the effort. Believe me, it isn't. Typical overwrought American melodrama attempting to manufacture and wring every last bit of pathos out each scene - and, as this is Spielburg, horribly overbearing and overloud music constantly throughout to let you know how you should feel (just in case the moving pictures and leaden dialogue didn't quite do enough to tell you).
Also, the b+w photography sucked. It looked like they'd filmed in colour then turned it off in post-production. There wasn't one scene that had to be in b+w (aside from some desperate attempts to have lighting played across a person's face in a film noir style). Compare it to Der Himmel über Berlin (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093191/) or Dead Man (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112817/) for some excellent contemporary b+w films to see how b+w cinematography can be done effectively and intrinsically.

There's far far better and genuinely moving films out there about the Holocaust.

I can believe it. I know a lot about the Holocaust, I've read a buttload of books written by survivors and descendants of survivors and people who liberated camps and researchers and everybody else, and I took a class about the Holocaust and my cousin Jackie's entire immediate family got killed in the Holocaust and I have been to the Holocaust museum. Schindler's List is probably not going to be worth it compared to that.
