Keep an open mind and watch the CNN video. I would like to see some of your responses to the video. Please keep it constructive.:D

People who study science are well aware of many of the problems associated with our pollutants. It's not just about climate change - It's about the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, the rays of the sun that shrivel your DNA...

Essentially, the people who are trying to argue against climate change are typically businessmen more interested in money, politicians interested in votes (in the US) and scientists also more interested in money or their own little dreamworld.

I tried to keep an open mind watching that video... It made me really, really sad - it's all about politics in there, it seems. Forget the big picture, just make the other side look bad.

And I especially feel for the scientists. They, and their findings, always always get fucked in this game.

Good editing, I guess.

Climate change comes down to a simple choice really

This link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zORv8wwiadQ) seems to put it quite well really.

Plus i've seen this sort of thing before, often the scientists that particpated in the programs complain that what they said to the people recording was taken out of context and twisted. Plus, from what i've seen they are focused mainly on the affects in America, which does not reflect the world.

Edit: Oh and i've recentely been reading a review about the IPCC way of creating a report and it is quite different to how it is described in that program.

For those who don't want to watch the forty minute video, there is a transcript here (http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0705/02/gb.01.html).

There are so many cracks in this argument's pedestal that to counter them makes no sense. Here are a few:
BECK:

Bjorn [Lomborg], you`re not a scientist, you`re a political scientist, so I`m not going to ask any science questions. I want to ask you, as a guy who believes in manmade global warming, why don`t you think Kyoto is the solution?

Gee, that seems awfully irresponsible, considering its a scientific fact.
LOMBORG: Glenn, that`s exactly true and that`s, of course, what Al Gores tells us. With global warming you`re going to see more heat deaths, but what most people don`t tell us is we`re also going to see much less cold deaths.
Phew, that's a relief. Go smokestacks!
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know that I`ve had several friends who have essentially been told if you speak out as climate -- on climate change, you must do so as an independent citizen. If you do so through our organization or through our institution, you will essentially be fired.
Just one of many "UNIDENTIFIED MALEs" on the program. Do they have names? Or does CNN just assume we'll listen to men in suits?
BECK: You know, it seems when something as factual as science moves into the world of politics and media, problems always follow. Global warming isn`t any exception.

With billions of dollars of funding at risk and the world`s attention in sharp focus, some say there`s no room left for dissent, but how can you stop scientists from debating? Isn`t that what they`re supposed to do?I think Beck has confused the checks and balances of politics with science. Scientists are not supposed to debate what is true, they are supposed to find it.
MARLO LEWIS, COMPETITIVE ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE: Three-quarters of the total expense would fall upon the United States.
This is the same organization that said, in an ad (http://www.cei.org/pages/co2.cfm), "Carbon Dioxide - They call it pollution; We call it life."

So, to conclude: little was actually exposed in this, except perhaps the problems that emerge when people who are not scientists try to discuss science.

It's also complete bullshit. What many people don't realize is that, as the overall global climate warms, some places will actually get much, much colder.

The politicians are only indirectly worried about votes. What they're really worried about is campaign contributions.

Politicians find it more practical to follow policies that corporate bosses want and will pay for, then use that money to hire PR firms to lie favorably about them and slanderously about the opposition. That gets more votes than simply doing what the people want.

Climate Change is just an overachieving problem caused by other problems, such as overpopulation, pollution, over-exploitation, raping trees and who knows what else.

So, Climate Change or not, we still need to do something.

Actually all the people in there are identified, they have their name and job title under their segment. The main reason i posted the video was just some debate. Most people say the case is closed, but in science the case is never closed. The healthy debate should not be about screaming down your opponents or government funding.

Seeing as how our solar system formed only about 4.7 billion years ago, this statement is inaccurate.

Well, I have been around since about 2004, but I never took good care of my accounts. If we go backwards from this point, I was: Walker_Texas_Ranger, Widferand, Widfarend, and Phaelemium(or some name like that).

Really? The transcript doesn't say who they are, and I didn't see any titles under them in the part I saw. (To be fair, I only saw the first ten minutes, and shows usually don't identify people in the introduction). Still, the transcript did identify some people, which is why I suspect that people it does not identify were not identified in the show.
