Well, if we take the initials of everyone who signs it, and say it backwards...

Hell, I dunno. Maybe it brings Bruce Lee back from the dead, and I for one think that's a worthy venture.

I like the site has in big letters "TAKE ACTION NOW" and then directs you to the Internet petition.
Still, it can't hurt. It seems more like a personal statement than a real protest.

Riiight... Filling that out is just asking to be picked off the streets by some wayward militant Juntoe assassin.

My blog is my soapbox. I don't need to join the rank and file of uncreative activitsts who all sound like drones after about 2 pages of the same mantra.

Actually wussy things like a petition has got things done before, but usually more related to getting a TV show another series. This is a pretty stupid idea and a waste of time, but their hearts are in the right place.

It wants my email address and phone number. No way! How does this avaaz get its money? I bet it sells email addresses to spammers.

Besides, petitions don't do anything.

It's okay if you want to smoke pot and listen to bad music, if you want to sign pieces of paper, if you want to ride your bike with a lot of other people, but don't ever think you're actually doing anything. It's fine to sit on your ass and do nothing, it's when that gets elevated to the status of actually doing something that really pisses me off. You're not doing anything by circle jerking a petition, by having a hippie jamfest, by clogging city streets with bikes, or anything else like that except that. That's the best thing that can happen from trying to "raise awareness" about some shit. The worst for something like the big bike rides are that some of the activists thing that "direct action" means violence is justified and start vandalizing cars and buildings and blocking emergency vehicles.

I can hardly wait for anonymous to get a hold of this. Poll's Closed.

This won't do any good, I'm afraid. Myanmar has shut off the Internet (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/04/world/asia/04info.html?hp).

Well you can say you contributed in some way.

You'd get more attention by shouting about it on a street corner and achieve just about as much.
