God that list is depressing

I know. They were the top movies to-boot. I groaned loud enough to wake the dead.

The Simpsons Movie is the only one on that list I would call "good." I didn't see Transformers though, so I can't speak for that.

You didn't see Transformers?! My God, you missed one hell of a movie!

I was turned off by the idea of it all: an action movie based on 1980s toys? But everyone who saw it really liked, so I'll probably end up renting it.

It was really good. The visuals effects were amazing

The Bourne Ultimatum was the only film I saw all summer, so I guess I have to vote for it. I believe the closest movie theater is five hours away...:(

The only movie I saw of those was spider-man three, on the airplane. The best movie I saw that came out this summer was The Yakiniku movie! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910941/)

Oh wait, I saw that too. I laughed out loud in the theaters when Peter decked Mary Jane while everyone else went silent. That made me laugh even more.

Hehe... But it does not compare to the comedic genius of the yakiniku movie... "Two long-lost brothers from Korea face off on a Japanese TV cooking program in "The Yakiniku Movie: Bulgogi" ("Za Yakiniku Moubi Purukogi") -- a sizzling comedy/drama that will make you rush out to the nearest Korean restaurant as soon as credits stop rolling." - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/awards_festivals/fest_reviews/article_display.jsp?&rid=9523

What was your Fav Movie of the Summer?

Of that collection, I liked the latest installments of both Potter and Pirates. OFF of the list, I liked the most recent Resident Evil, also.

I have high hopes for the DVD release of "Daywatch" (on the 5th, I believe), which didn't get a cinematic release round here.

Transformers was the only movie I saw in the theatre all summer...and I liked it so much I went and saw it again less than a week later.

The Simpsons by far. It's the only movie on that list that was actually good of those I've seen. Haven't seen Bourne Ultimatum and Hair Spray yet.
Spider man 3, Shrek 3 and Harry Potter 5 sucked. Pirates of Caribbean was nothing special, not as bad as I'd expected but definitely not good. Transformers was just a "meh" experience, giant toys shooting at each other isn't my thing.

i liked Shrek 3 a lot

but i think Knocked Up was the best movie i've seen in cinemas this summer/year

though the best movies i've seen overall (counting at home) would be the Tenacious D movie and Hot Fuzz, both of which we saw (again) last weekend and laughed our asses off, and the Matrix movies when seen back-to-back in a marathon :)

I only saw Spiderman 3 and Bourne Ultimatum, so I'd go with the latter.

haven't seen Transformers and Pirates (i'm the only one among my friends), Bourne Ultimatum and HairSpray are out now in Italy (but i'm not planning to see 'em) ...
i voted Simpsons (for my lifelong love for their sketches i could quite predict but enjoy anyway)
I would say that "death at a funeral" would be my second choice for summer movies with shrek 3 ...

From the list, I've only seen Transformers (utter wank - the best...wait...only good bit about it (the amazing animation of the robots) was ruined by the awful camera work) and the Bourne Ultimatum (pretty good, for a dumbass action movie).

Best film I've seen at the cinema this summer...The Seventh Seal.

Me, too. Saw an advance screening at Botcon, saw it with friends from home a few days later.... And then saw it again on IMAX a week ago. Great movie... Tho' after 3 screenings, I'll admit I've had my fill for a while.

Actually, I think I saw Spiderman 3, too.... Rather forgetable movie, apparently.

Bourne. Not only did it kick @$$ on all levels, but it doesn't bother going any further. It was a successful trilogy, it was well made, it kept the suspense, and any subsequent Bourne movie will be "The Bourne Redundancy."

Why is Die Hard 4 not on this poll?

I went to see it with my little sister. I spent weeks trying to convince her to go see it, but she kept insisting that she "doesn't like that kind of movies". Eventually she got tired of my begging, and agreed to go. She went in reluctantly, and came out with a thirst for more Die Hard -movies and a crush on Bruce Willis.

I loved the movie too.

Transformers, sadly. :(

Seriously, it's about giant robots, less of the damned humans, okay?
Also, that wasn't Bumblebee, that was Wreck-Gar! ;)

Superbad was the greatest movie having to do with high school aged hijiinks ever. It beat out Dazed and Confused, in my opinion.

Transformers wins out of those. It wasn't a great movie, and it could've been a whole lot better (especially if the characters were recognisable rather than just a lot of metal fused together to make a rough shape) but it was great for just a switch off your mind, blow crap up kinda flick.
