It struck me the other day how often people, including those on this forum, talk about being "oppressed." Atheists feeling oppressed by Christians, Canadians feeling oppressed by Americans, Americans feeling oppressed by Poles (okay, the last one I just made up), et cetera, et cetera. Now, while I realize than many people actually are oppressed for their beliefs or backgrounds, it seems unlikely that the people I see on a day to day basis or the people on this forum are among those. What do posters here think? Are we all too quick to victimize ourselves?

Canadians feeling oppressed by Americans
We do?
And I think that too many people do whine about oppression, but when they are oppressed too few are actually willing/able to do something.

I dunno, I was just making examples up. The only people I could think off the top of my head who complained about being oppressed by Americans were Iraqis, and they're actually justified.

Some may not find it appropriate, but yeah. That's happening around here as well.
According to the cops, my city is a "hotspot of the Mexican Mafia".
Wouldn't surprise me.

I whine a lot when I am sick, or tired, or breathing.
