So, I'm wondering ... no holds barred ...

When did Hell freeze over for you?

For me it was when the phrase "kiss my grits" was used with wreckless abandon.

You?

Yesterday. I actually live in Hell and it snowed the other day and the mud all froze. Surprisingly it got up to 4C today but nothing really happenned to increase the thaw. I hope everything stays frozen, makes work easy.

Lol!

Actually, you'll love this story ...

I am the Precinct 9 Chairman for the Gregg County Democratic Party and we had someone in the DU - the Democratic Union (and unofficial Party organization) had a member endorse Ron Paul - at an official DU meeting! They're independent from the Gregg County Democratic Party, but I still found that hilarious.

We in Gregg County have agreed that either Ron Paul or Mike Hukabee(sp?) are the most tolerable of the bunch ... but we're still hoping for Giulianni because he's sooooooo beatable. ;)

Oh yea, Rudy would go down in flames no doubt about it. Personally I can't stand him

1. He's a Bush clone, he's another Neo-Con.
2. He uses 9/11 for his own political gain by saying that he was the Mayor of NYC on 9/11. That's great and all, but what did he do exactly? Because from what I can tell, it was the NYFD, NYPD, and the EMS that were the real heroes that day.

I have to be honest ... what I'd like to see is someone like Paul or Huckabee win on Rep. side and to pit them against Gravel or Biden on the Dem. side.

I just don't want to see a Bush/Clinton dynasti going on.

Kucinich is my man, but damn how fun would it be to see Gravel vs. Paul in the post-primary campaign?

If Clinton gets the nod, then I'm going to the Philippines until she either win or loses. If she loses, I'll come back, but if she wins I'm staying with the filipinas.

If you think Bush was dividing the country....hehehe.....wait till we see what Hillary can do.

She supports NCLB (which was a dismissal failure)
She actually wants to take the profit away from oil company (yea that'll solve our energy crisis Ms. Clinton  )
She supports the Patriot Act
She was for the Iraq war before she was against it.
She's not for Same Sex Marriage, but for Same Sex Civil Union
plus the $10 BILLION health care system will send our taxes through the roof, and fork over even more power to Gov. Co.
She also hates video games apparently.

Yeah, but which of these are going to make the country so much worse that you'd leave? Higher taxes? Seems like a pretty stupid reason to swap the US for the Philippines. I interviewed a woman from there literally two days ago and she swore to hell she didn't want to ever go back.

Hmm...when did hell freeze over...probably when I crashed at a friend's house after being out all night, and because I had no car, having to borrow some of their clothes and tag around with whatever they were doing that day. That is how I found myself in the mud filming motocross bikers wearing random collected menswear.

I'm not sure if that's what you meant by hell freezing over, but that is definitely when the world got a little more surreal in a fun way for me.

Yes, I consider higher taxes a legit reason to leave a country, mainly when the taxes goes towards program that I do not agree with (not just NHS) but yet I have to pay for it anyways. Ms. Clinton want to solve our energy crisis by taking any profit that the oil company make and put it towards alternative energy. Now I'm a big fan of alternative energy and I hope one day they will be a viable option, but please pray tell me what good is it going to do to use the oil's company money to fund alternative reasearch projects? All it's going to do is give us an oil shortage that is 100x worse than the one we had back in the 70's. Basically oil companies will stop giving us their oil because they can't make a profit in the USA market.

The Patriot Act is just another power grab by the federal government and as a Libertarian I am against that. As for the same sex marriage issues, I am all for same sex marriage, and I think that she appears weak on that issues by saying she is against marriage, but for civil union. "Well I won't serve you steak, but here's a big pile of dog turd!" Also, she needs to realize that it's not the video games that are making our kids violence, it's the lack of parenting from the parents that are making them violent.

Bottom line is: Hillary Clinton Presidency would be a failure on such a massive scale that after spending 100 billion on another Government run program that'll cost even more people to die because of all the red tape, waiting time, etc. and the fact that we'd be plunged into the dark ages with no oil coming in, and that she most likely would not repeal the Patriot Act, and pissing off the gays and lesbian by not giving them marriage and with no video games to vent their anger out on, I'd imagine we'd actually see the American people burning down the White House.

Little is any of what you are saying seems to me to either a) be limited to a Clinton presidency or b) justify leaving for the Philippines. The main thing you seem to be talking about is higher taxes, which I guess is a fair enough reason, but let me ask you this: by what percent would they have to rise for you to leave (under any president).

So you just ignored everything else? Come back when you actually read the whole thing instead of just the beginning.

No, I read it.

Gay marriage - nobody with a chance of winning supports it.
Patriot Act - she isn't the only possible President who won't roll it back.
Taking money from oil companies - how would this make the US so bad that it would be worth leaving? She isn't going to do this to a large enough extent that it would make petrol cost significantly more because it would be a politically suicidal move as far as re-election is concerned.
Video games - ... You'd seriously give up the US for the Philippines, in part, because of possibly harsher regulation of video games? It is fair enough that her view point pisses you off, though, and I would agree with you. Out of curiosity, does she have a policy for her presidency relating to this?
Universal health care causing more deaths because of red-tape and waiting lines - seems to work in other countries, and I don't think it is a bad thing that people will be more willing to seek medical help. The amount of people that will die from waiting and red-tape won't compare to the amount who die because they can't afford to get treated or are scared of the costs.

Give me your e-mail address if she wins, I will send you an e-mail after her first term either apologising because of the huge dive in petrol supplies and spike in prices and the massive increase in people dropping dead in lines outside hospitals or asking you what happened. You sound like a crazy doomsday nut.

No, I read it.

Gay marriage - nobody with a chance of winning supports it.

I look at presidential candidates not whether or not they'll win the election, but where they stand on issues. Gay marriage means that government has less control on marriage and thus less control on our private lives.

Patriot Act - she isn't the only possible President who won't roll it back.

The other Presidential candidate that won't roll it back won't get my support either.

Taking money from oil companies - how would this make the US so bad that it would be worth leaving? She isn't going to do this to a large enough extent that it would make petrol cost significantly more because it would be a politically suicidal move as far as re-election is concerned.

and yet, that what she wants to do. She wants to take all of the profit away from oil companies. Just how well do you think that's actually going to work? Not only will it send us into a Mad Max type society (or close to it), it just
expands government power to where it's not needed, IE wealth distribution.

Video games - ... You'd seriously give up the US for the Philippines, in part, because of possibly harsher regulation of video games? It is fair enough that her view point pisses you off, though, and I would agree with you. Out of curiosity, does she have a policy for her presidency relating to this?

No, but I look at what she's done as a Senator, not just what she says on her Presidential campaign, because all she'll do there is tell people what they want to hear. All Presidential campaigns is, is a lying contest, a contest to see who can sell themselves the best to the American public.

Then why do people from Canada come here to get health care? Why is the UK health care system's spending out of control, and last I've heard, they actually are now cutting back on some services pretaining to child birth. Yea, great system they have.

Give me your e-mail address if she wins, I will send you an e-mail after her first term either apologising because of the huge dive in petrol supplies and spike in prices and the massive increase in people dropping dead in lines outside hospitals or asking you what happened. The government is already in a central position in the distribution of wealth. That is most of what is does. But seriously, we will wait and see with this. I'm sure if elected she'll do something along the lines of what you're talking about, but I don't see how you can believe a politician would be willing to do something as suicidal as sending America into a Mad Max type situation.

All Presidential campaigns is, is a lying contest, a contest to see who can sell themselves the best to the American public.

Agreed.

Then why do people from Canada come here to get health care? Why is the UK health care system's spending out of control, and last I've heard, they actually are now cutting back on some services pretaining to child birth. Yea, great system they have.

Because there are some medical procedures that are better performed in America. And yes, Canadians have to wait longer, but this is outweighed by the fact that universal coverage means poor people, who would otherwise be afraid of seeking medical treatment and thus die anyway, are more likely to seek help and have a better chance of surviving. Also, some stats: the mortality rate for cancer sufferers in Canada is 148.2 for females and 215.1 for males. In America it is 160.5 for females and 234.1 for males. Canada's life expectancy is 2 and a half years longer than Americans. In the US, $728 per capita is spent each year on drugs. In Canada it is $509. Spending? In 2004, 15.4% of the US' GDP was spent on health care, in Canada it was 9.8%.

You won't need my e-mail, if she gets elected, and after I see what a dismissal failure she's been as President, I'll just laugh and do "I told you so!" on NSG.

Well, I think all to be said has been said and we will wait and see whether your prophecies come true. I think we should swap e-mails but in case one of us leaves NSG, because whether I'm right or wrong it'll be fun to do a little retrospective in 2012.

Incidentally, you said you'd want to leave the US because it will turn into a crazy Mad Max type world. Honestly, if that happens, I'm rigging up my care with some kick ass weapons and shipping over there. :p
