On the Internet, no on knows you're a dog

Wow, what a question. As far as I'm concerned, there's no need to lie unless you're counting lies by omission.

I realize this thread may seem paradoxical, but we'll see how it goes.
How often, if ever, do you lie on the Internet? More specifically, how often do you lie on this forum?
I'd like to ask that if you lie frequently, you stop lying here and say you lie. If you don't lie, don't start now by lying. If you always lie...this is starting to sound like a logic question. "If I asked what road to take, what would the other man say?"

EDIT: That's quite a thread steal.

It could just mean that you don't post much, but 10,000+ posts seems to preclude that possibility.

do i need to make my life more exciting? i dont talk about my life.

do i need to pretend to be something im not? to impress YOU? i dont think so.

do i need to pretend to have an opinion that i dont have? wouldnt that just make me wrong more often?

I'm a cat, not a dog, thankyouverymuch. My human thinks it's "cute" how I play with the computer mouse, but that's only when she's not looking. Getting my paws to fit these keyboard keys is a pain, though. Maybe I could persuade my human to buy one with bigger keys...?

However, when it comes to telling the truth in the Internet, my whiskers shiver at the mere thought of having to share with everyone exactly where my comfortable basket is located - they could want to come and take it over!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get on with my catnap...

(Note: While the above may contain some half-truths, untruths or downright lies, the general sentiment is not a lie.)

i'm actually what i consider to be MORE honest on the internet then i feel safe being in real life thanks to the relative annonymity the internet gives me!

of course i always try to take into account, and don't always succeed in doing so, the kind of effect my worlds might likely have on the kind of world we all have to live in.

i'm all for one legged men playing tarzan, and large green cats and other unusual life forms communicating and spining their webs of imaginary and possibly better worlds on line though. what could be inspires the possibility of it being, and real life, if anything, desperately needs that.

Why does the OP assume people are honest towards their friends and family?

As a kid I quite frequently lied to my family. It was kinda like a game, because my mum was quite good at catching me out to begin with. So I was always trying to improve. Sometimes I lied just to see if I could get away with it. Actually, I lied most of the time to avoid getting nagged for not doing something.

3. You might avoid telling lies but without telling the whole truth either.

I hate to break it to you, but I do not actually run an island nation...

I suppose for the purposes of character management within the whole NationStates universe (And those on my other habitual forum) I make some stuff up, but most of the time what I type regarding my opinions is true. I suppose every now and then it is fun to argue from a totally ludicrious position just for the sake of being in opposition to everyone else who agrees. After all, having a good debate is important. I also tend to produce a fair amount of sarcastic comments which, if taken literally, would constitute a lie (At least to the person/people reading them).
