I've seen a few episodes of that. I laughed at it quite a bit. In the space of half an hour there was only 2 moves, both of which stopped the opponent from making any moves and using the fucking huge monster things standing behind them. To fill up time every character present had a little monologue where they expressed doubt about whether Yu-Gi could win, but ultimately came to the conclusion that they had to trust him. Yu-Gi apparently has a totally different inner voice(high pitched and squeaky) from his actual voice(the opposite), and goes on about the heart of the cards repeatedly.

There's plenty of good anime, the problem is you get mostly shit on TV if you don't live in Japan. And as with everything, 90% of anime is crap, so while it could take a while I'm sure you would find something you like if you only tried.

I know it has that "It's from Japan so the law REQUIRES it to be weird and being foreign makes it awesome". Wolf Rain came from Japan and that show was awesome I know there was no second season. Why? There was no need for one. Everything that needed to get resolved got resolved. No battle was needlessly drawn out longer than it needed to be. That's how Anime should be.

if you don't want lengthy series than stick to Anime that are only 26 episodes. There are PLENTY of Anime that don't make it on TV in the states that are about quality over quantity.

I started watching Naruto fansubs long before Naruto became popular here, so I'm really pissed at the fans. The anime's main story arc is pretty good (it can get a bit dull), and is best heard in Japanese (damn American voice actors!). The hundred or so filler episodes they tacked on, however, suck ass.

Shippuuden is pretty good, and best of all: no American dub yet!

Kim Possible isn't that bad, I mean it does have some 'adult' humor that they slide under the kid's radar. One of the best is when Kim mood was out of control (because the mood changer was going haywire) and I just laughed through the whole thing because it reminds me of PMS. Ahh great stuff.

Anything Dragonball is truly hellspawn. It's the Daytime soap of the Anime world (as in it takes a century to get anywhere). (My vote has gone here).

Actually, the ORIGINAL Dragonball had a whole plot and all kinds of dialouge and stuff between the screaming. It wasnt that bad.
The only horrible aspect was the poor airbrushing/editing to cover up OMG PENIS. The English VA's werent even that bad.

Sailormoon really isn't that fanservicey. Yeah there are plenty of thoes Anime that are made purely for fanservice and shock (Elfen Lied Psychic Academy) but that is a small margin of Anime. But you might as well hate live action movies because they have sex violence and nudity in it.

But like it or not Anime is comming out of obscurity, it isn't a no name medium of Animation from another country.

The film Requiem for a Dream: The overhead shot of Marion in the bathtub followed by her screaming underwater was an exact replica of a shot in the Japanese animated thriller, Perfect Blue (1998). Darren Aronofsky bought the remake rights to the film just to use that one sequence.

Dragon Ball Z. Here's the plot. You have a bunch of people that shoot fireballs and fly. Piccolo looks like nothing more than a green human man with antenas instead of hair. Every season, a new threat emerges. The threat always wants either Goku dead or the world blown up. Why do they want the earth blown up? How the hell should I know. At the end of a season or two, the threat is killed and everything that wasn't a planet gets fixed. When a new season starts, a new, more powerful villain with the same goals emerges. The plot gets recycled over and over again.

How are the battles? Most of the time, their either trying to poop and failing (try some exlax or something) or blabbing about how powerful they are. Then, a few punches get thrown and a few legs get kneed. Then, they stop and pant and talk some more about how powerful they are and how they will win. So, a two-minute "fight" turns into a multi-episode battle thanks to the maracles of talking...........and constipation.


Card battle anime. In this form of anime, battle is done with cards. If they're going to have a pokemon card battle, why not just say so? Also, I don't get the rules. With Pokemon, I understand that you capture pokemon and have them battle other pokemon to the death or something. First-gen. Pokemon are the best, followed by second and fourth. The third gen were ugly. Not just any ugly, but "Why was I cursed with eyesight? Why, god, Why? WWHHYYYYYYY??????????????? *sobs* I would rape and kill my own mother to unsee that" ugly.
