Welcome to Kent McManigal's "Liberty" website. I am a radical libertarian who wants to spread the word about true liberty.

Although I am no longer actively campaigning, I can still be the write-in candidate for Radical Libertarians.

Despite disagreeing with him on capital punishment and a proposed Maximum Wage, I could definetly see myself voting for Augustson. Too bad he decided to run for a House seat in Illinois instead.

I might vote for Gore if he runs...if not, my vote goes to a third party.

The Dems and Repubs running aren't really showing me anything that would entice me to vote for them. I'd much rather "throw my vote away" trying to help send a message to the two-party monopoly.

I was sceptical when you said this, but I just read through http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Mike_Gravel and I can't fault him once on anything I understand or care about. Of course, I don't expect everybody to agree with me, but I am shocked and disappointed that a) I barely ever hear his name mentioned and b) he apparently has little chance compared to Clinton and Obama (not that I have a major problem with either of them).

Gravel for President!

Second place was a "match" of 56%, which is extremely poor. Dennis Kucinich is closest to my position according to Political Compass, but he only "matched" in the 50% range with this quiz. Considering American politics is one giant false dichotomy (a fact very accurately reflected in the quiz), all of my "matches" are rather poor. "Neither" was my most common answer.

Theoretical Ideal Candidate of the Decline To State Party has my vote.

Apparently, I hate everyone (as if I needed the Internet to make me aware of that), but the closest match is that McManigal guy (with a whopping 62%). Somehow, I don't think I could ever make myself to vote for him, not as long as he is incapable of making public appearances without his shotgun and cowboy hat, anyway.
I think a write in campaign for Theoretical Ideal Candidate (He's everything you want him to be! Theoretically!) could be fun to run. Maybe if I have some free time next year ...

Hmmm. I had a couple of problems... although a lot of big issues are covered, they aren't necessarily the ones MOST likely to influence my choice. And - the positions are either not helpful, or lack sufficient subtlety in weighting.

That said - as a rough and ready tool, it's pretty keen.

Obviously, the main candidates aren't (in real life) going to reflect the availability as suggested here.

Having read some background through that site, I'm another person not seeing a lot wrong with this Gravel chappy... and a Kucinich/Gravel ticket could be about as good as American politics is likely to get this century. So - that's not going to happen, then. :D

Presumably they have stopped their campaign for the President.

Matchopolis: NO! NO TANCREDO! NO TANCREDO!

Take it from someone who has Tancredo as his representative...you do NOT want him. Period.

As for me...I've never heard of Augustson...but he's pretty close to me.

This poll wasn't fantastic, certainly, but it was much better than any other poll I've seen so far. I expected those slider bars to be something that actually measured things along the scale rather than just going from low to high...you couldn't even set them back at the centre after you set it to one or the other.

And it had all those questions about education and experience...age and marital status(?), but ignored that you might have a preference for a candidate with a certain religious orientation, skin colour, or toolbox.

True. Those were unnecessary. I noticed that there should have been many questions that weren't there, such as other questions involving education, energy policy, ect.

But of course people only care about whatever issues the current politicians make as issues.

I got Obama, of course, though for some reason, he tied with Kucinich, a candidate whom I've seldom heard of outside of making fun of his name. I have to admit, the slider bars annoyed me.

Is anyone who took this not an American? Just curious to see how the country would change if we let Canadians vote, or something similar.

Eh, I don't think this thing is too accurate. Obama was top of the list, and while hes not horrible, after reading through a lot of the bios, I'd have to say that Gravel is the best, and he was number 15 on my list.
