The Zimbabwean parliament has passed a bill to move majority control of foreign-owned companies operating in the country to black Zimbabweans.

So, he expropriated farms to give to his supporters, and now people don't have food. He instituted price controls and now people can't afford the little food there is.

And his solution is to expropriate some more.

Is he dilusional or just stupid?

To be fair, he wasn't the first to come up with that idea. The Malaysian government has the same thing, but that was more along the lines of making the political elite and their friends rich.

In fact, Mugabe didn't give a shit about blacks owning the farms until he literally watched a CNN news story about how his political opponents were being funded by the white farmowners. That's when he went start raving Kim Jong-Il fucking mad and started this whole "Reclaim Everything From Whitey" bullshit that has continued in a downward spiral towards rock solid earth.

I watched his speech at the UN. It's amazing how he can talk for 20 minutes about how his government is a model of democracy and human rights, by contrast with the US and the UK. I don't think he can possibly believe it. I think he's just a cynical politician clinging to power, and who hopes he can somehow rally a majority of the population by making them believe his policies are good for all black Zimbabweans (while pointing the finger at white Zimbabweans as scapegoats).

I doubt it'll work. France 24 recently did an undercover report filming inside Zimbabwe (http://www.france24.com/france24Public/en/special-reports/FRANCE-24-Reports/Reporters-FRANCE-24.html), and black Zimbabweans seem to realise full well that Mugabe is their problem.

Let's say, for argument's sake, that Walmart operates in Zimbabwe. Mugabe is basically saying that if Walmart doesn't have majority Zimbabwean ownership, it can't operate in Zimbabwe, right?
