Do cell phone towers harm children? What do you think?
Do cell phone towers harm children? What do you think?
Only when they fall off them.
Only when they fall off them.
Or when the towers fall on them.

What about radiation exposure. What if the tower was put in the middle of the playground or across the street from a school?

It's not exactly the same but it's probably close enough. It was more about the mobile phone end rather than the tower end but it would be nice to let the points made about electromagnetic radiation there be recognised too.
Also I read through Wikipedia's article on Electromagnetic Radiation and Health and found that magnetic fields above 0.4 micro-Tesla have possible carcinogenic effects after prolonged exposure. Not sure what the magnetic field strength of a broadcasting tower is though.

Electromagnetic waves do not work like that.

They'd be at more risk of running into the legs
There are people who claim the signal causes them physical distress, but amusingly in clinical testing the distress only occurs when they're told the transmitter is on, not when it actually on. :D
It's in your head people, the EM waves don't interact enough with the body to do much anything.
Have a big sign on the side that says 'This cell tower is off'. Problem solved.
Oh noes, the picture of the cell tower is putting out a bajillion watts of the radtiation and warping time!

A cell tower in the middle of a playground.......

That would never ever happen.

I know, and there are people who think we should rip out our wifi and listen to them beacuse "anything's possible."

Though it is important to point out that it being "in their mind" doesn't make it anyless real or important, to them.
It does mean we shouldn't take their claims of electrosensitivity at face value and get into a moral panic though.

That would never ever happen.Actually it has. Scientists have found a devious way of modifying climbing frames so they can be used as transmitters.

But... but... they can increase your skin temperature by a fraction of a degree. In other news stay indoors, light and heat from the sun can increase your temperature by several times more than radio waves, and it'll penetrate deeper too.

Yes but at that point you can't use them for climbing, unless you want to melt your hands to it.
