Good. I hope he spends the rest of his life behind bars.

Glad to see that brutal dictators who abuse their power for their own gain rather than improving the lives of their citizens are finally getting what they deserve.

Unfortunately, this story isn't quite that simple. Fujimori was one of the best Presidents Peru had ever had - he saved the nation from the Shining Path, put them well on the road to economic recovery, and even managed some honest land reform without ripping anyone off.

Then he went and fucked up. But calling him "brutal" is probably out of line.

I guess Al's trying to win the first inaugural Gussy Awards for saving a South American country from Socialism By Any Means Necessary.

I bet you've got all sorts of great things to say about Pinochet too.

No, not really. Pinochet didn't do anyone any good at all.

Any honest assesment of a ruler will look at his good points and his bad. The fact is, Fujimori was an excellent leader who lost the plot at the end of his rule. And in fact, I see his eventual fall as a validation of Peru's political system - it was rugged enough to survive despite the man at the top screwing up by the numbers.

here's a little more for you Fujimori education.
My question is when are we going to extradite his non-Peruvian
accomplices from countries far and wide.

It's good that Fujimori will face a Peruvian court. He must answer for his mistakes.

by mistakes i hope you do not mean "getting caught" was his mistake.
haha. just kidding. just kidding.

i know you're not really his former cia or some corrupt corporate contact.
ha. just kidding.
no. seriously. i am just kidding.
if you really are, it was only a coincidence in guessing
so do not do anything to me.

but seriously, things revolving around death squads...
tend to be a mistake for anyone who armed, trained, or paid for them.
seriously, they have to live with their conscience if it is still strong enough to be seen. which of course it always can be. and telling the world the truth is the first step towards answering for one's mistakes.
