that's a good one.

no. i'm not talking on the personal level.
anyone can be a degenerative bonehead.
especially if they learn such idiotic non-sense from a lost (or missing...ha!) parent. misled.

but the idea that attempts to reconcile the past as "reverse discrimination" is just....does no one know history any more?

quotas.
reverse discrimination? i don't think so.
rather than continuing your judgements on people who supposedly "don't belong there", why not work so everybody gets college for free.
we want educated people so they don't do stupid things, right?
and job training so people stay out of trouble and have enough to survive.
....on that note, let's work for a minimum LIVING wage for all.
better yet, democratize society, starting with your workplace.
it's every one of ours - the planet that is.
no 10 or 10,000 people are the masters,
because there are no slaves (or at least are not supposed to be).
owning people directly or the necessities of life above another's head.
they are both slavery.

SO....
rather than work against others getting "ahead".
why not struggle for all

Race quotas are an interesting subject. I agree that capitalism is generally oppressive, and should be working to reinvent our system rather than trying to make capitalism moral and equal.

What I do have a problem with is race quotas being used in public schools and such. I think school assignment should be 100% randomized and local.

And I also agree social colleges should exist.

i don't know about capitalism or whatever else.

just that we do not have democracy and i believe it is a good thing to work towards developing.

Umm... when I was applying to grad schools I briefly looked at a school that paid female grad students in physics $2000 more than male students. I know it was just to try to encourage women to go into graduate studies in physics (we tend to be under represented), but I didn't apply there on principle.

I have a bachelor's degree in history, and I agree that some attempts to "reconcile" the past ARE discrimination.

Not "reverse discrimination" - that's a puerile and stupid term without real meaning. One can discriminate against any group - even the majority.

Universal education is not discriminatory. Discrimination against those who are either stupid or unmotivated in terms of higher education is not wrong.

But discrimination on the basis of race is considered wrong in our society, and I feel that must run both ways - because discrimination FOR one group is always discrimination AGAINST all others.

"Reverse discrimination" is meaningless... It's just discrimination disguised as equal opportunity.
