So, I'm starting a new thread for what you sound like. In other words, post clips of your voice here.

Here's mine:

I'm gonna go ahead and ask you what you do for a living.

If the answer is not Radio DJ or announcer, then I will be terribly upset.

Really? Huh. Neat.

That'll come in handy if/when I go into politics, then. I knew I had SOME SORT of advantage.

I'm not interested in doing radio, though...I mean, if it comes to it, sure, I'll do it, but it does not really appeal to me.

I know what you mean.
Radio always seemed a bit dirty to me, always hanging out in people's cars, their homes, large sporting events. T.V too.. would sooner flash a person than tell em the weather and digital cameras are all a bunch of voyeurs. I tend to plug-in with the classier electronic devices, like...voltmeters.

I've heard this from cabbies, math teachers, my uncle, and martial arts instructors.

Too bad I have don't have a mic so I could get NSG's opinion.

It's not polite to forcefully clear one's throat of mucus while recording for NSG. Still, that's the most hilarious foreign approximation to a Swiss accent I've ever heard. Do go on.

And no, the world really did not need yet another thread like this, most especially not without linking to the others, and even more especially not without the OP indicating willingness to link to the alphabetically ordered entries in their OP.

Cree is actually a very flowing language. You should hear the West Coast languages though...sounds, some very gutteral, that I don't even think I can HEAR properly, much less try to emulate. Dene is also fairly harsh, though not nearly as difficult to pronounce as Salish. Gwich'in is a Dene language...here (http://www.yukoncollege.yk.ca/ynlc/languages/index.html) is a site where you can hear various languages spoken in the Yukon territory. Here is another site (http://www.sicc.sk.ca/heritage/sils/ourlanguages/cree.html) with languages spoken in Saskatchewan (and some in Alberta, including Plains Cree, my dialect). Click on the language you want to hear, and then click on "common terms and phrases" to get to the interactive part.

Yeah, I had to over-pronounce stuff to get it through clearly on the mic..or else it just doesn't give the language the justice it deservers which you can clearly hear in real life.

This is more realistic. This is how I normally speak German:

Good stuff. I mean, it's still hilarious because hilarity is immanent to Swiss German, but, you know.

Cree sounds a lot like Ojibwe/Anishinabe (whichever term is more correct). Should I assume they're related or is my ear just untrained?

The Ojibwe and Anishnabe are related to us...we literally call them our cousins. There are also variations of Oji-Cree which are basically Cree with slight regional variations in pronunciation. The sounds of Ojibwe/Anishnabe are very similar to Cree, but many of the words are so different, you wouldn't be able to understand them as a Cree speaker.

In Cree, a typical conversation opens with:
Tân’si? – Hi, how are you
Namoya nan’tow, ekwa kîya? – not bad, and you?
Peyakwân, tawâw. – good/about the same, come in/there is room
Ay ay. – Thank you.

In Anishnabe it would be:
Aaniin – Hi, how are you
Nimino-ayaa. giin dash? - I'm well, and you?
Nimino-ayaa, miigwech - Good, thank you.

I hear a bit of Ojibwe/Anishinabe around here, mostly from the local Chief making public service announcements on the radio. He starts out with a greeting and always ends with "miigwech", which I'd always wondered the meaning of. I've also seen a couple of billboards in Brimley, MI (near the Bay Mills reservation) in Ojibwe/Anishinabe. I wanted to take Ojibwe 101 (https://bulletins.cmich.edu/crdesc.asp?sid=161001&sub=Ojibwe) at my university this year, but there aren't many seats and they fill up quickly.
