Which is better? Pro-Wrestling or Mixed Martial Arts?

I personally think MMA. Watching tough guys bash eachother's brains in for real is better than watching fake wrestling.

This is tough because I love them both but I will have to say pro-wrestling only if it is a real WRESTLING company like ROH,AAA ect not WWE,TNA ect.

Mainstream professional wrestling is often pre-scripted or even improvised with a general and specific outcome in mind. By no means does that make the wrestling moves themselves fake or worthless; those can actually injure or kill if done improperly, much like trying to control the swing of a sharpened blade.

If professional wrestling was an actual full-out competetion instead of a performance, it would be hard to tell a lot of difference between it and MMA.

Why are we comparing violent soap opera with competitive fighting?

Neither. Why pay to watch when all you have to do is hang round for half an hour after the Pub shuts...... National Drunk Fighting League all the way!

Yeah, but it's never a spectator sport. Audience participation all around! I like to be able to watch a fight without looking over my shoulders sometimes.

Problem with MMA for me is that it rarely lives up to one's expectations.
Invariably the wrestler gets the other guy into a hold and repeatedly punches them in the head until they pass out.
Effective, yes. But doesn't make for good television.

Western audiences want MMA to be kickboxing.
We could just cancel MMA in the US and replace it with Muay Thai and no one would notice. They would just think some one made it suddenly awesome.

Truly one of the mysteries of the ages.
Find an answer to this question and you'll be regarded as a seer, a prophet possibly even a messiah.
Though only to the sort of ppl who view living in trailerparks as ostentatious and having all your own teeth extravagant.

Pratical and Effective is a separate continent from Flashy and Spectacular in most MMA fights.

There's a reason nobody's going to make a Hollywood blockbuster with a multi-million dollars fight sequence involving computer enhanced special effects and Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

Pro-Wrestling was awesome when I was 11. Now? I can't stand more than a minute, tops, without wanting to read a book or cut myself.

MMA wins, especially MMA that's not UFC bullshit. Watch EliteXC on Showtime for alot of hungry up and comers. And women. I'm sure you can find them on the net, too. Search for Charles 'Krazy Horse' Bennet and Gina Carrano.

Krazy Horse said, and I quote "I don't know no kung-fu or ju-jitsu. I'm a ghetto nigga. I fuck. People. Up." Look for him fighting a kick-boxer named KJ Noons. :)

Is MMA just like Ultimate Fighting Championship and all that? Because that is incredibly tedious usually, the fight typically begins with a handful of punches but then the two fighters just collapse onto the floor holding each other in all sorts of peculiar ways, until one taps out.

I'm going to have to say MMA. Yeah there are some anti-climactic fights, but then there are fights that defy your vocabulary for explanation.

UFC is MMA

Everyone in the West does not want MMA, they want kickboxing.

depends on what you consider BETTER.

Pure, unadulterated violence? MMA.
Entertainment Value? Pro Wrestling.

I, rather Pro-Wrestling. the quasi-violence they serve up is entertaining and offers the participants some degree of safety.

For everyone who likes "MMA" (which they don't, they like kickboxing), there is a new series coming up on Discovery Channel which will consist of various forms of mostly unadulterated violence. 12 tribes will have a bunch of athletes going to different tribes and taking part in their cultural competitions. Most of these involve beating the shit out of some one else.
